A Grave State Of Affairs

While the title I've chosen may seem confusing I shall soon explain. As a player from the original beta and long term subscriber to 1.0 it grieves me to say that the community I was once proud of has now become a cesspool of elitist, rude, self-absorbed, pushy, obnoxious, and just plain annoying players.

Now why do I say this you might ask. Well this is from observation since the end of beta phase four to now and from what I've seen the community is going downhill at a tremendous pace and is beginning to, dare I make this comparison, look more like World of Warcraft than Final Fantasy anymore.

In the last three days I've seen...
*Players screaming at other players freshly turned 50 for watching the cutscenes within Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium.
*Players berating other players for queuing for Amdapor Keep without full Darklight gear and relic weapon.
*Players refusing to group with other players for the purpose of Fate groups because they are not a "AoE Class"
*Players mocking other players for not knowing all fight mechanics on their first attempt at dungeons.
*Players constantly demeaning other players in /shout for asking simple questions regarding quests, dungeons, or otherwise.
*Players harassing other players until they leave groups because they aren't geared to the like of that party member.
*And much much more....

Needless to say I am appalled at this and it grieves me say that these are the filth that is being represented as our community. This kind of behaviour is atrocious and it only gets worse with each passing day. As these so called "parsers" come into the mix now I see them shouting that they will kick anyone who doesn't meet their damage per second output as well. It is getting out of hand and needs to be fixed, be it by exiling them (I.E. banding together and telling them enough is enough and forcing them only to group with each other or use the dungeon finder) or by actions by Square Enix to penalize this type of behaviour whether it be temporary suspensions, gil or other penalty, in-game jail time, or otherwise.

Skip them and watch them at the Inn. I did that, didnt want to burden the people that were carrying me for the first time.

That is not how the game is intended to be played. Any of the Legacy players would tell you this and the simple fact we are harassing players who wish to experience the story in this is terrible by all accounts.

I'm not agreeing that its acceptable behavior to yell at people for something so stupid as making them skip cutscenes but if it was not meant to be played this way they would have made the cut-scene's unskippable.

Isn't Final Fantasy first and foremost about the story?I wonder if most speed runners & rushers even watched them their first time? My guess is no.

Patience is a virtue. Harassing them period for wishing to watch the story as they play it should be considered a form of punishable harassment as it stands.

I despise those people. That's why I'm in an FC and a Linkshell, so I can avoid people like them.

You only need DL Jewelry + Primal weapon and full AF gear in AK to start running it.

It's the Binding Coil and Titan HM where you'll have issues without proper gear at the moment.

Not sure why you need to sink the whole boat like that when there are still other nice players out there even known the number maybe few.
people can play how they want. they can make their demand and you don't have to comply.

the fact that you asking others to play according to your own standard makes you the same as them.

I'm not asking them to play at my standard, I'm asking them to act like a decent human being and be civil and compassionate to other players especially if they're new to that particular battle, dungeon, event, or otherwise.

And to Johnist, you don't even need that to run Amdapor Keep. I was doing it with just basic artifact gear and the standard level 49 jewelry as well as my precursor weapon with Scorpion Shield with no issue. Amdapor Keep is nowhere near as difficult as people make it out to be, as long as you're on top of your positioning, it's by far easier than Sunken Temple of Qarn even.
