I want to play a warrior, should I bother?

I can do the same content with my WAR as I can with my PLD (both 50).

I prefer my WAR but to be truthful it takes more work (which I prefer). If a WAR makes a mistake it can be a problem but a PLD seems to be able to deal with it better.

If you want to be a tank I'd advise levelling both because they share gear (appart from AF2). I am working on my relic for my PLD before WAR. Only reason for this is because I want to be Over Geared for WAR so I get no hassle from idiots.

I never understood this mindset. I mean sure, for easy content, I can understand that. However once you start progression where every fight is an uphill battle I'd personally want the simpler job, humanity is not infallible, everyone makes mistakes and on the more complex jobs smaller mistakes can be more detrimental.

That said, if you have to choose between leveling the two? PLD. Lets be honest here, even ignoring any viability differences, there is a strong community bias towards PLD and you'll have a much easier time with it. If you don't care about progression or speed, then by all means, play WAR.

Play what you want to play only goes so far, if you're going to go against the grain of society, you're going to take flak for it.

So far only sucked at one dungeon, and that was because I didn't really get the mechanics on the first run. Have tanked nicely up to level 42, was loads of fun and I look badass. I only ever get real problems when I have too many adds to deal with at once. I think that's the same for PLD though, it's just practice.

Go for it. If you don't enjoy it after 25-30 levels and a few dungeons then just switch. That's the beauty of this game.

It's totally different at level 50 after Garuda Hard Mode... I have a full dark light w/ relic warrior and I'm leveling up PLD because WAR just feels like a really bad tank. The self heals at end game are pretty bad in comparison to the rate of incoming damage. You can make it work but your party will have to back you up tremendously. Assuming you have an understandable group then you can do it but I'd advise against it for now..

TBH, Coil is the only place this shows. Though, really, this is more of a matter of PLD being able to do Coil (the hardest content in the game) in ilvl 70 gear, whereas WAR needs ilvl 90 (w/ some accuracy accessories). Titan with WAR can be easily managed as long as you know what you're doing, whereas with PLD you just need to cycle cooldowns for Table Flips and you're golden.

If you want the easy life, PLD is the way to go. You'll complete anything and everything, even (probably soon) Turn 5. It's just, frankly, quite boring. I haven't made it to 50 on my PLD yet, but based on what I've seen and my understanding of the skills I'll get I can't imagine it's much different than what I'm doing now - that being cycling cooldowns and doing one combo over and over again. I'll be fair and say WAR isn't that much different, but he has more versatility than PLD and it makes things a lot more fun.

But if the fun for you is completing the content, then yeah sure PLD is your boy. You even get to experience what WARs experience on every turn of Coil in Turn 5. ;D
