    Brayflox - Spin Aiatar?

Okay, it's been three times that I've been in this dungeon and everytime I've done the boss... I've spun it.

Is it a poor strategy to some team setups, but a good one to others?

Cause I've been winning with it. I haven't gotten poisoned as much and the healer didn't have to constantly Esuna me.

It's just... some of the people have vehemently told me not to do it...

It's always poor strategy to spin bosses. Your DPS and healer should always be behind the boss and if they have to keep moving they can't DPS or heal. The biggest reasons is that if the boss does an attack facing the other group members it will kill them. That boss has a very nasty frontal AoE that will murder anyone who isn't a tank and the rest of the team have their own problems with poison placement.

It's a bad habit to get into since on later bosses turning a boss onto your party will just outright kill them. The job of the tank is to protect the team absorbing damage for them. You should be able to sidestep it's important attacks without turning the boss.

Hmmmm... I see... I guess that does make sense...

I'll try to stand still the next time...

    Optimal word... "try"...

Spinning boss = bad strategy all around no matter what's the setup, you are making it hard for your healer and dps. Melee dps needs to flank or back for positional damage, range dps except for bard need to stay still in order to cast. If you spin the boss around you are gimping melee dps and making it hard for caster to cast spells due to all the movement.

There is no try, do that at higher level dungeon and your dps will seriously hates you for it.

no, don't spin Aiatar. dragon's breath does around 1k damage and you do NOT want a dd or heals accidentally getting caught in it.

pull him to a wall, move him to a different section if he pukes on a melee dps.

This. Just keep moving him along the wall as best you can when you must otherwise just stay still and let the other party members do the moving around. Once you got it down this dungeon is a piece of cake and drops a lot of good Paladin gear (Cav set)

Don't spin boss 360 , just move it side to side bout 30 degrees , or stun when red appears but stun isn't required.

You can easily see where the dragon head is facing and will notice it is slow in facing you when you move side to side . Which means when it does breath it will land on ground as you are out of the hitbox usually .

Constantly spinning a mob is one of the worst things a tank could ever do.

Aiatar you don't want to spin. I won't say never spin a boss - there could be reason to do so, but it's extremely rare if ever. You have to consider both the advantages and disadvantages:

    Advantage:
    - Some frontal attack might miss tank.

    Disadvantage:
    - Frontal attack may hit other group members
    - Melee DPS goes down because they can't use positional abilities (bonus behind boss, bonus from side, etc)
    - Other group members may have to interrupt what they're doing to dodge an ability, and the spin makes the position of that ability unpredictable.

Generally, spinning is bad. Use it only when the advantage to the team is large. For example, if that 1 frontal ability that hits the tank causes a 1 or 2shot kill and no other way to avoid.
