Thread: Screen goes black for a few seconds, then frame rate drops drastically

Hi everyone. I just started playing ARR a couple of days ago and I'm having a great time, but there is one technical issue.

Occasionally my screen will go black for about 5-8 seconds (but I can still hear in-game sound), and then it will come back on. However, upon being restored, the frame rate seems to have dropped to almost nothing and the game is very sluggish. The only solution seems to be to restart the game.

Any idea what is causing this?

This happens to me on the demon wall on AK 1/20 times whe he casts "repel". I chalk it up to server lag /shrug

What type of systems are you guys running on? Does it have dual video cards?

Same issue but I can't even log back on, as I get error 90000 "connection with the server was lost" after as well

This effect itself is either attributed to TdrDelay (in the registry) or the usual "network lag+fps drop" problem
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\GraphicsDrivers
Change TdrDelay to a higher numbr or you can even turn Tdr off with TdrLevelOff (0)

The latter problem, some people have reported it fixed by disabling TOE/LSO in the network driver, others have updated their video drivers and found it fixed. There is no single cause.

It seems to have gone away after I changed my graphics settings from High to Normal (and then slowly started tweaking individual settings higher, like AA). It did it again when I turned on HDR, so maybe that was the culprit.

It seems that there have not been any further posts about this concern being an ongoing issue. Because of this, we are considering it to be resolved.
