    AoE lag

    Hi!

    After a rather rough night of dungeon crawling I went to the forums to find out if the issues we encountered last night is something game related or server related? I'm not sure if it has to do with Xyphre's post about lag/throttling either.

    What we noticed is that there is some sort of lag or delay when NPC's cast an AoE. The ground lights up in red or some other color. You move out of the area. At least one second to spare and 10 ft out you still get hit by the effect. If you move immediately on seeing the AoE you do not get hit. The problem is; that haw can you possibly ensure not getting hit if what you see on the screen is not true to what's happening?

    I have also encountered the 5-10 second lag spikes but that seems, not knowing 100%, related.

    My question basically: Is the AoE issue known of, being discussed and most important, being fixed?

    This is an issue and it is not just you. There is a delay for what you see on the screen and what the server actually sees. You can test this very easily to see if you are effected. Cast a spell, at the very last moment, move your character. If your spell is not interupted, you will know that a delay exists.

    Yes exactly I noted this as well. I cast a heal, for instance, and I interrupt it by moving and the heal still goes off.
    I really hope that this issue is being addressed because it caused quite a stir in our Duty finder based group. Some got very annoyed at people getting killed by effect's that they them self’s felt they were avoiding.

    Any one has any info on the status of the fix?

    Right. I am a sch. My advice is to try to time primal attacks, and watch the mob closely and try to move before the attack.

    Tanoose, yes that works but to be hones that's not the way the game is supposed to work right? I mean sure you can utilize that strategy until the problem is fixed.
    Question is; is the problem addressed by the developers?

    I'm having these issues too, i'm stuck with some friend in titan story quest is impossible to avoid the knockback spell with these problems, someone always die,

    This problem has been ignored since beta. There have been numerous threads including one in the accepted bugs section. The problem is that the SE server only checks your position 3 times a second. That means you have a 333ms latency on top of whatever latency there is to the server, so most people have a .5 second delay to the server. This is noticed less by the so called pros that have found a way to circumvent SE server and skill lag somehow. What really happens is you will see posts from tank classes and instant cast classes that say they have never had a problem and in their eyes it may not have been a problem. When you cast something your position is updated immediately, so a melee class that is constantly using skills has their position updated more often the 3 times a second and only deal with the actual latency they have to the server. Healers really notice this problem because my heal does not actually show up on someone for quite a while after it hits. The cast goes off right away but the skill/animation lag from the server is so bad that it will not actually hit the target for about a second after the cast stops.

    I am sure the developers are aware of this situation because they do monitor these forums, and there have been many many people who have posted about it and brought it to light including yourself. I am unsure if SE knows of a way to fix it, or if it is something that can be fixed, hopefully it can be at least reduced with some fancy programming. It is definitely an annoyance, and is really a pain for the Titan Hard mode fight. Titan is one of the most difficult fights to make it through, but people have done it. You just have to go into it knowing that there is a small delay and try to use it to your advantage and pay very close attention to Titan and when he turns toward you, you know he is going to try to punch you so don't wait for the AEO indicator to move. With the idea that there is a delay, you can do things like run into fading AOE pools just before they disappear knowing that on the server side they are gone or running into an exploding AOE becuase although it is blowing up on your side you know that it is complete on the server side, even running before your spell is finished to dodge knowing that it has already casted. This is not right that we have to play like this but if you understand that there is a delay you can compensate with your actions.

    ...The developers are aware?where?did they say anithyng at all about it?Its ment to be that way...someone say's they have said that(dont know if thats true).
    I said in the closed thread about this problem like many uther and wot we get?Close the thread.
    And i say again many play the game in slow motion to say so but when they will hit the end game HM primals and wathever this problem will breack anyone desire to adapt to the problem and just wait for a fix or quit.
    I have also said that not many bother searching the problem in the forum and becouse of that when more will see this problem, reaching the HM dungeons, posts like this will be many.
    My sub run out in few days...didnt play the game for 4-5 days i gues.How can i sub when i cant play?Eu servers in US?

    I'm at the exact same place, it's ridiculous. It was during the Titan fight where I first encountered this issue. What a drag, just been Fate Partying where my lag doesnt make that big a difference to the group
