How can a VPN help easing the server lag? Shouldn't it be the contrary, since you are connecting thru another server?
Does it actually work? I'm kinda tired of the random latency I'm getting... Also random 90000 kicks.

Connecting through a VPN has made no difference for me, possibly because the connection problems are related to what I suspect is SE's server provider (basically, the last step before the connection actually reaches the XIV servers).
battleping works for me, i get 70ms with it and without it i get like 150-200ms ( i live in southamerica )
I think OP was referring to the huge lag spikes that people have been experiencing, not overall performance latency. Though I could be wrong.
Well from what it seems is that it does not affect everyone, and the ppl it does is usually during a period of time. Maybe using a VPN and changing the location you are receiving the data from would affect whether or not you will get the stupid lag stuff going on right now. Maybe..
VPN only helps if you have latency issue, people often think latency = lag and 90k in this case, which they are not the same, if a ISP is throttling in anyway, or if you are far from the server you are connecting to, VPN will help, if you have the server lag and constant 90k disconnects from SE, vpn wont do a thing for you.
I mean latency as in, lets say, you are crafting, everything stops for a couple of seconds, and then people passing by speeds up, or you are healing and everyone stops, including enemies. As in there's a red-like icon besides your name.
Os it even possible to run a VPN with the PS3 version?
