Nope, it's not, The sad part if in this horrible display of sarcasm you already admit it. of course only the selfish and impaitent seriously consider someone to be a "prick" just because they actually want to enjoy the story without being told "go watch in your inn cause we already seen them and don't care for what you want, only what WE want instead"
Now who exactly are the pricks here?
I find it funny, of all these people who are saying "Go watch it in the inn" or "You are making 7 other people wait." You know what? Go somewhere else, leave this game, you are part of the toxic community people complain about. If you want to speed run, don't use the duty finder. Set up a group with like minded people who want to speed run through. Use your LS/FC or server community. Can't do that? To bad, deal with it. At least the people who are wanting to see the cut scenes aren't harassing, pressuring, guilting, bulling other people. If you think that, that behaviour is fine. You're a lost cause, or better yet find a different game that suits your needs.
I've done the two end story mission quests countless times, and anytime I see a new person in there I make sure to let them know to enjoy the cut scenes.
While the people on the forums are just a small representation of the population (however larger than any other FFXIV community website), you can see forcing people to skip cut-scenes is not an acceptable behaviour especially for someone going through the first time. Hell just glance at the liked posts in this and many other similar threads.

I watch the cut scenes the first time I get there.
I have only 1 character and I intend to experience the game as it was intended, not skip stuff and wonder "what is happening ?!" only to find out later.
If people can't be arsed to wait, they should make their own "no-cutscene" groups.
Everyone is only a new player once. Let them enjoy it.
I wish they would just make cutscenes unskippable. That'll end all the arguments, and everyone will have to go through it together, new or not.
It was my second time in CM today and I was support tank while my friend was the main tank. The group kept bullying me to hurry up and started picking on me, the next part had me laughing until I cried.
My friend, as awesome as he is, started casually walking while everyone was sprinting, so I started casually walking beside him.
Everyone got reaalllyy far ahead so this was the plan, I go up to them and grab a mob they sneaked around while he grabbed a mob allll the way back where he was and bring it to them.
We did it and a few people died but we survived, we laughed about it and continued as normal.
After that, no one said a word.
I know that SE is thinking of ways to encourage players to use the DF with things like the "MVP Vote" system, so how about this idea:
Grand Company Seal bonuses for repeat dungeon runs if at least 1 party member is a 1st-timer and watched all the cutscenes.
Maybe the speedrunners would be less upset if they got a bonus for being patient and Seals seems a better bonus than EXP (which you don't need at lvl 50) or gil which could be exploited by RMT.
Also to avoid Seal exploitation the bonus would only take effect if 1 PT member is a 1st-timer.
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
They just need options to a) automatic function to pass all cut scenes b) allow rest of the group to move on and let the people who want to watch CS do that without holding up the group.
Problem solved?
I bet you can 3 man CM, it's so easy it's not even funny.
Average ilvl or not for DF, it's debatable. Parsers or not, it's debatable. This topic, is just stupid.
The story leads a new level 50 to the dungeon finder. The thing lights up and he can click on it. The story didn't tell the newbie to complete quest and go to Mordona and type /shout LFM -7 cutscene CM.
People telling newbies to skip cutscenes are only selfish, and still forgivable. The ones defending these actions here are just plainly, stupid. They can't think even one more step farther from their own position, (due to lack of knowledge or education or whatever) not to expect them to be able to think from a newbie's point of view. Maybe you should just suggest SE to add the "/shout LFM -7 cutscene CM" into the quest description" and let more people laugh at you.
It's making me not look forward to those dungeons, that's for sure. If I must use DF, due to LS/FC members not being far along enough or because everyone advertising for groups is looking for speedrun groups, then I will. I plan to experience the dungeon as the developers intended, meaning to watch the cutscenes and experience the story within the dungeon (the thing that sets the atmosphere and makes it feel purposeful, along with informing you about it).
If someone takes issue with that, I'll just need on any gear that drops that I can use. Greed on whatever else, no skin off my back if they want to basically let me /follow them through and get free stuff. If they all die because they were short on heals, then that's their problem and hardly my own. I have a hard time seeing the self-centered-ness of wanting to experience content as it was intended, versus forcing others to experience it in a water downed and gimped fashion just because someone thinks their entertainment worth and time is more valuable than my own.
That's just my take on it. If they complain that my watching CS's is gimping their group, then I'll just be dead weight that can roll on loot the whole time if they don't want to wait up. If they want people to experience things as it wasn't initially intended (ie: Speedruns) I'm more than certain there's hundreds of people looking for that on their respective servers. Unless no one wants to play with them because they act like toddlers in a video game.
