*Sorry for all the text, I wanted to give the best info I could due to the post count limitations. I work in the IT industry and consider myself a bit further than advanced in knowledge concerning gaming and computers (it's what I do all day every day).*
First of all, thanks to anyone who has any insight on what I can do on my end. I am stumped!
Info-
I am a new player. I purchased this game 10 days ago and can not get the game to run well, stable on either of my gaming rigs.
I started on my main gaming computer (specs below) and after doing everything I could think of to remedy the issues, switched to my back-up (kids gaming computer, specs also below). Both computers have the same issues. These issues are present regardless of video/audio settings & resolution. These issues are not always present, Sometimes I log in and the game runs great.. this is what drives me crazy!
Issues-In order of occurrence @log-in-
UI lag/unresponsive for 1-25ish seconds
Choppy audio
Slow rendering(10-150 seconds) of PC's, NPC's, MOB's, and some quest related items.
processor usage skyrockets (acts almost exactly like it's running stress tests)
RAM fills up (also acts allot like stress testing)
Hard drive starts much higher usage cycles. (This is random, does not do it during every issue cycle).
If I try to continue to play at this point I will get a Virtual Function error (same as others have posted). That's if I have not received the error during this progression of issues.
Current actions I have taken-
Format & Clean installs of OS, Drivers, Librarys, BIOS, and Game.
Full complete tests on RAM, CPU's, Hard drives, and GPU's.
Wired / Wireless Router connections
Port forwarding
even tried DMZ
Tried the full gambit of max to minimum settings in game on Audio, Video, and Resolution.
Tried the full gambit of settings on GPU, CPU, RAM, and even BIOS.
The issues persist through all of this on both gaming rigs.
The only "band-aid" I have found to get stability in game when these problems come up is to continually log in and out of game until I get what I call a stable log in. So if I wish to play the game, I currently have to log in 1-9 times. At that point the game remains playable for a random set of time (sometimes hours sometimes 10 minutes). Then it starts the issues cycle again.
Side Notes-
I have never had these issues start when I was in a dungeon finder dungeon. Once in the dungeon the game ran great every time. I have had it start an error cycle as soon as exiting the dungeon.
Zoning seems to have zero effect on these issues for me. It does not seem to be a catalyst to bringing them on nor a "reset" to alleviate them (minus the dungeon finder tool mentioned above).
I would consider this all "lag" and/or poor server connections/routing if it wasn't for the CPU, RAM, and Hard drive symptoms.
No response from SE support about this (aside from the automated "we got your request" e-mail). So I am hoping one of you Master CPU-fu Jedi's have an idea that I have not thought of to fix these issues or even a more acceptable temporary fix.
I love the FF franchise. I want to keep playing and get a second account for the kids. I do not want to keep playing "Russian Roulette" with my CPU's, Hard drives, and RAM to do so.
