Duty finder bring the casuals and hardcore player together is a disaster

Yes, it is a disaster. SE is trying to use the duty find to bridge the gap between end game hardcore content to the casuals. Back in the old days like EQ, there is no way for casuals get into Plane of Fear (end game dungeon at the time) without a guild with 30+ people and 4+ hours daily. If you die, you lost exp and you will drop from lv 50 to lv 49 or more. As you can imagine, these contents are really for the hardcore gamers who have a lot of time. I didn't have time back then so I never had a chance to get into Plane of fear until the next expansion pack come out.

Now, the duty finder is so user friendly that it will allow ANYONE to find a group on any dungeon include end game content such as Garuda HM, Titan HM, and AK. The problem is, it also bring casuals and hardcore gamers together in the very same group, and this is where all the fighting, attitude problems, swearing begin.

Casuals - A lot of those are getting to lv 50 now and doing their CM run and AK run. They are new so they want to see the movie in CM, which is reasonable. They are new to AK as well, so they will surely die in front of the 2nd boss. However, a lot of the casuals thought that they could use whatever gear they have and get into AK, Garuda HM and Titan HM, which this game allow them to do for the last 50 levels. They will also show up in Titan HM with AF1 armor or level 44 weapon for AK.

Hardcore gamers - Since they have been running the 98327th time of CM and they WANT to finish the CM run in 25 mins or less. And they were also on the 322435th time of AK run so they expect everyone could ignore the bee on 2nd boss and just focus on the boss because most of them are in full darklight and relic +1. So, if you are below this standard, you will be considered as being carried. They expect flawless run just like what they have been doing for the last 32434th run.

As you can see, expectation from these two groups are TOTALLY different. Older genre of MMORPG do not have any tools to bridge these two type of players together. Now, the duty finder is the bridge. I personally think that duty finder is a VERY useful tools, but it is also the root of the problem that you see in duty finder group now. Casual want the hardcore gamers to form their own pre-made group for speed run, while the reality is that most of the CM group in duty finder are speed-runner group. So, hardcore gamers want the casuals to form their own group to do their casual run because the majority of the players on duty finders for CM run are hardcore players.

No, I don't have a solution, but this is where the problem is.

No, I don't think "Hardcore Players shouldn't use the duty finder" is the answer. As a matter of fact, they ARE the majority on duty finder. Almost 8 out of 10 CM or AK runs, most of them are speed runner group. Casuals are the minority. Asking the *majority* not to use the duty finder or making their pre-made group for speed run is just...silly.

The 'solution' will be implemented in 2.1 where they'll add a gear check to the duty finder ...

With ilvl reqs being added to DF in 2.1 -- the gear part of this issue should be moot. That said if better geared and more experienced players want speed runs the best best is to form a party outside DF (of like minded and like geared players). The DF really isn't a place to try to build optimized runs (assumed this would be logical but many players just don't seem to get this.)

Solution is easy don't use DF for speed runs then cry when there's a new player.

Something they could add to duty finder like they have the box to click if you want to join a party in progress is maybe one that says experienced/inexperienced/ or don't care boxes you can check.

For the most part all I can say is form your own group with like minded people. Hitting duty finder, in my own opinion, you know what you may be getting into. You will be grouped with anyone. Then complain at the people you're grouped with?

You take the easy way out. Or the lazy way and then don't expect something like this to happen? Take the time and form your own groups. You won't have to worry about people like that at all. Especially knowing you took the time to watch it at the very start on your first time.

Hardcore Players shouldn't use the duty finder, As Hardcore players should only run with other Hardcore players. Casuals player normally could care less if they win everytime. It's about having fun getting there not getting there today.

I don't quite understand why the hardcore endgame people need to use DF. If you are serious with endgame then you should have a stable FC to run the endgame contents with. Just leave the DF to the casual guys.
