Ever play FFXI? its still going strong, and is still subscription based even after 11yrs......If these forums are anything to go by, this game will soon suffer the fate of all other mmos I've played in the last 4 years.
1. People start playing mmo, game does great.
2. People run out of content.
3. Some people start complaining.
4. Half the playerbase starts complaining.
5. People say "Fine then just leave."
6. Game dies/Goes F2P and begs me to come back on facebook.
Why can't we just have an mmo that is designed to last longer than 3 months?
I'm at the point where I'm scared to log in because all my time will be wasted anyway.

Kinda funny how many haters have 1 lvl 50, let's look at the facts, you have spammed AK and CM to get Darklight, beaten all primals at least once for relic, and that seems to be about it, why don't you do what you're supposed to do in games, have fun, if you're tired of CM and AK, go to coil, think outside the box, find a group for the other dungeons, Wanderer's palace, Cutter's Cry, Aurum Vale and all the other ones (admittedly most not lvl 50) that people ignore because you can't "get uber gearz from" or hell even just level some more classes, have a go at crafting or gathering, try to experience more than 1% of the game before you start complaining there's no content.Something about only have one single true lvl 50 4 man dungeon to run for 3 months until 2.1 shows up makes me wonder....I seen more options in F2P games. I mean does anyone actually enjoy running AK after the 100th time?
There is absolutely nothing else to do for me.
Sure, take a break for 2 months they say: is that worth 15 bucks a month? Maybe to some but not me.
I can list half a dozen MMOs that kept me going for at least a year....FF 14 does not look to be one of those.

Thing is, you're much more likely to get a person creating a thread about why they hate the game than you are to get one about why someone loves the game. Why? No idea. Maybe because it would be a pointless thread which is better served as a blog since most threads aren't even open for a discussion after OP post.
We have people telling others that they are wrong and are lying that they like the game and can see themselves playing it for years. I didn't start posting on here until recently and I have to say that it's a cesspit, but it hasn't taken any enjoyment away from the actual game. When you're actually in game you don't hear /sh "omg this game is so boring! It copies x,y and z!". If there were those /sh then the community at large would probably just ignore/blist them.
tl;dr
The forums aren't necessarily an indication of the health of a game. It's such a small pool to pick from.
I guess I messed up when I started playing the game... I was too busy enjoying it, I didn't realize we were supposed to rush through the game and then whine and cry about not having anything to do... I was under the impression that we were supposed to relax enjoy the game and then by time we get to the end then they would be releasing further content to keep my experience going...
Most people here complaining never played WoW Vanilla. It was horrible back in the days on release. Low content, Massive bugs, lags and way more. Look what it is now. MMO take years to polish

This is pretty much the impression I'm getting from the OP of this thread:

There are a lot of people ITT still claiming the game would pull the plug before going f2p.
Your information is a little outdated."We stuck with subscriptions because we wanted a stable amount of money to pay developers to develop patches on time. We didn't want to get into a situation where we couldn't afford to make a patch," he continued. "As a producer, I of course will be watching how the money flows and will evaluate the situation. If we had to change to a free to play model, we would probably offer a hybrid model with free to play servers and subscriptions servers, but it's not something we have planned right now."
