That something is lag.

there is no lag on my end
and trust me..this isnt lag im seeing

they go up to a node, take out their axe, and walk 10 yards north then swing it, then they gltich 10 yards east and swing again, then 10 yards south and swing again

this is not normal, in any way shape or form, and its literaly specific people who do it every time i see them, certain people who act a bit suspicious to begin with

and im not the only one who saw them doing it


kinda like people who are fishing...in the middle of town with no water(there are those who hide to do it)

So found something new lately thats happening with people botting while gathering

they are glitching majorly on the node(it shows them well over 10 yards away from the mode, and they move AFTER they start gathering)

i noticed 1 specific person was doing this last night when i was out at treespeak, and only the 1 person, the other 2 out there with me werent glitching at all

and it wouldnt have been suspicious, except he did it on EVERY node, and it was only him

and ive seen this in the past with certain other people, and it seems consistant

so something they are doing is causing the game to glitch while they gather

They're running by the node with their menu up, then swiping enter when the option to gather comes up. You do run quite a bit after that happens. As far as the data your unit is receiving, they started mining exactly where they hit enter. Then wait, no, their new location actually updates on your end, and they seem to move after they already started mining.

There aren't significant gathering bots to my knowledge that don't require you to run it to nodes yourself.

so it updates them after EVERY swing? sorry that aint whats happening

imagine they get 5 swings at the node
now imagine they are in 5 random locations within 20 yards every time they swing


they are also running somewhat of a pattern when they are doing all this in the area, literaly running a full circle to every "possible" node that could spawn, up to it, then away if it isnt there, a normal person would scan the area, ut they seem to run up to it instead each time even if it isnt there

A quick survey of the ffxiv bot providers out there (who have been open for business since september, have youtube commercials and all) reveals no gathering bot with that capability.

Theoretically you could use a memory controller in conjunction with a gathering bot, and the weird marriage may cause a locked-in miner to somehow change locations during a mining attempt.

I have yet to find real evidence of that distance hack that some of these bots seem to have though, and we have visual confirmation of that.

It definitely would takes and advanced program to bot mining or botany for there is a lot of obstacle to go around. a bot could easily get stuck up. I personally never had evidence of someone botting (taking into acount that those people who dont reply me back are just being rude). Most of the botting problem seems to be concentrated into straight crafting and fishing.

This may have been a beta test of a next-gen botter, who knows.
But a this-gen botter plus an memory controller running pattern to four or five known node positions is plausible.

Many crafting cheaters use memory controllers. They set a series of actions on their controller, then tell it to input it repeatedly. They just set it to hit standard synth enough times to guarantee that the synth either fails or succeeds.

Instant crafting bot. It levels your craft while you watch a movie, and the only thing you have to watch out for are puple tells in the tiny corner of your screen as you do whatever else you want.

Is that cheating? Of course it is.

SE!!! if what Peregrine says is true.. then PLEASE TELL US THAT YOU WILL DO SOMETHING.. I will choose to play the game honestly.. but will YOU choose to make my choice regrettable?

Sounds like retarded game design to me. Sit in one spot. Check. Monotonous spamming of 1 key. Check.

Funny thing is I've already broken one controller with this game because I hit the X button so much it stopped working.

lol @ Radaghast, my "X" button is in sad shape also, but that's because it went through a few years of FFXI first and then to this (After replacing my original controller).

On topic, I also really wish I saw some more activity from SE with regards to botters. I've reported a couple of them that were clearly doing it. It was that whole trying to fight a claimed monster even while there were several unclaimed around. I even tried talking to them. Another time there was clearly POS hacking going on.

Lately I see the herds of Lalafel... Sure there could be like a "Lalafel Pride" group or something, but they look kinda suspicious to me.

I've started taking pictures of them. I think I'll have to upload pics/vids or something somewhere. A picture is worth a 1,000 words, right? Maybe if the STF sees them in action?
I honestly don't know what else to do because sometimes I feel like the reporting falls on deaf ears.

I'm also a crafter and sometimes I'm not paying attention to chat when I do it. It's like you go into some zone @_@ lol. But the same thing happens when I'm doing leve's. Right now it's a bit of a challenge to hold a lively conversation while fighting.

Anyway, maybe we can turn this thread into calling out of botters we've seen; their name(s), location & the exact suspicious behavior & include any pictures you may have.

Botters are a problem, so let's not pick on each other, let's come together as a community and see if we can do more to draw SE's attention to the issue. ^^;

Please don't.. I do not wish for this thread to be a "witch hunt" thread for botters.. but more of a plea for a response to the botting epidemic that is plaguing the honest player.. I want to know that SE will NOT allow those who have exploited the game using 3rd party programs to continue to abuse the honest legitimate players..
