***Question about Relic Quest...need help please cannot find answer to this***

Can you use your pre-relic weapon until you trade it in to Gerolt or will that mess up the quest?
I don't know if there is some mechanic in the game that looks for the weapon being unused or not and do not want to screw this up.
In the mean time though if you can use it I would like to get it and starting using because it would be better than my level 49 CRAB BOW.

You can use it, but it won't be for long depending on the speed of your progress. You must have it equipped for the Hydra fight, but after that Gerolt takes it from you and you don't see it again until after you defeat all 3 Primal HMs.

Perhaps you mean the green weapon that you're required to meld materia into? If so, then yes you can indeed use that weapon before you lose it to your relic quest.

I bought an HQ one and used it until I got my Ifrit sword.

Just know you can't turn it in unless you have another weapon to replace it with. What I mean is Gerolt will take it when you turn it in and you can't remain your class without a weapon since the weapons are what decide what class your playing as.
