Why should I subscribe?

Rich and Vibrant World:
The game looks good, there's no doubt about that. Texture qualities could be improved in places, but it's not a big deal either way. Characters are not proportionate though, but they don't really have to be either, it's a fantasy world.

Most large scale MMO's have a decent backstory. Also, references to pop culture is not unique to this game.

The Community:
Can't say I share your experience. I've had more bad experiences with the community in this game than any other MMO I've played, but maybe I'm just unlucky.

The little details:
Yeah, love the attention to detail. Makes the world more alive.

In Conclusion:
Game looks great, and have a good foundation to build upon. It manages to stay true to the franchise and most people a fan of it will probably feel at home. That being said, between the poor network coding, customer support, handling of RMT and at least in my opinion a rather dull and uninspired end-game in it's current form, I have no intention of subscribing.

There's only one way to level, and only one endgame 4 man dungeon worth doing, and the 2 raids that people are farming offer no challenge at all.

I don't think you are. Me and many others have exact same experience. It's just a theory but I think it's because FFXIV's community mostly consists of ex-ffxi players (worst community I've ever experienced) and WoW outcasts.

The main reason I paid for 180 days in advance is because it's a Final Fantasy title.

If it didn't have 'Final Fantasy' on it...then it wouldn't be worth it. It has nothing outstanding in my opinion. It's not bad either though. Just..mediocre.

Is this sarcasm or are you really confused by this? It is not uncommon for people to develop real friendships with people they game with.

I have not found anything quite like that on this game but I played a game called Socom with the same group of guys for a period of about 10 years and I would consider them very good friends of mine. If you take into consideration the amount of hours you log with some of these people in the virtual environment..its not really hard to believe that some people develop genuine friendships..heck some people even find love while playing these games.

That said if it was sarcasm..fair enough..you can basically disregard this lol.

As for the topic at hand, I am still a bit skeptical about the long term outlook on this game, but I also subbed for a 3 month period to see where it takes me. If I am not having much fun by the time the Elder Scrolls Online launches than maybe I will check that out. Sadly, I agree with Recycler..I am not sure I would have subbed at all had this not been a Final Fantasy title.

I think you're confused. I wasn't referring to the word friendship but to the (miss)use of the word family.

If more people would be able to think / function in a way relatively close to yours, then we would have a better world. In and out of game.

If you toggle 'walk' and never untoggle it, you can truly savor the environments. People that run everywhere aren't appreciating the way the specular light plays and dapples off the water, or how the wind will sometimes pick up and your character's hair and garb will move with it. All they want to do is ride their chocobos around, never take any time to just savor right here, right now.

The MMO Fairy can't stop them, gentle reader, for they are technically TOS sanctioned, but if only more people would toggle 'walk' on and never untoggle it.

If only people would take the time to see everything the MMO Fairy has given to them!
