    Smn that heals!

I am a summoner and have found myself back up healing in certain fights, such as the snake in 1st turn of coil. I can do damage while dots and pet are up, then turn to back up healing/shielding as needed. Obviously, I stick to damage as much as possible.

    Any other summoner healers?

Your healers must be bad if you have to offheal. Or your just waisting DPS when you could ruin, Ruin II
Also, what do you mean by shielding? i dont think ARC/SMN get any sheild spells (i guess Eye for an eye)

Depends on groups and situations. Healers don't have to be bad, for example when I did brayflox I was SMN and our heal was a SCH. At that level SCH can't remove ailments. So after a wipe at final boss we decided I would help healing to keep up with poisons ticks on the Tank. And it did work.

I paired in a macro Virus with Eye For an Eye so every 2 virus it is cast on tank.
Throwing a Physick now and then can help too.

I play only caster roles and all my jobs (including blm) has a healing spell in the hot bar.
A great caster will know when to throw a cure to save the situation and it has nothing to do with healers being bad.
Sometimes someone makes a mistake (tank, dps, caster, healer) and without everyone's input it can lead to a wipe.

I think more people should see outside the box and help other roles when they have a moment.

For example, I always cast Dots on mobs when I am playing healer. I am not going to stop doing that just because it is not exactly my role.

As a SMN, you basically ARE the backup healer. If someone goes down, Raise them. The healer's need to focus on keeping everyone else alive and can't waste 8 seconds to cast Raise. (Unless they have swiftcast) If there's tons of AoEs all over the place causing them to take more damage than the healers cna keep up, help them out and toss a few Physicks. trust me, every bit helps. I had a White Mage thank me last night in Ifrit. (Tank kept missing the Eruptions) I was spamming Physick on everyone that got below 50%, and it really helped out the healer who kept getting chased by eruptions and couldn't stop to cast a spell, or they'd die. Same goes for Black Mage's, if you see the Healer havign trouble, use Physick. It's cross-classable you know, and BLM's actually heal pretty decently :L

Nothing irritates me more than when I asked a SMN to raise the other healer, because I was spam healing everyone. (My Fairy also got melee'd by the boss, and died shortly before the WHM, so I had already used my Swiftcast to resummon it.) I quickly asked the SMN to raise the WHM. I barely even had time to ask them, there were so many typos im surprised anyone even understood what I said. Know what the SMN said? "That's not my job, l2p" If I wasn't spam healing, I would've exploded. However, than tank did explode, lol. 'YOU HAVE RAISE, USE IT, CANT YOU SEE HE'S IS BARELY KEEPING US ALIVE YOU ****** RAISE THE WHM SO WE DON'T WIPE. WHM just said, forget it, I'm not helping that SMN, then left.
