May I suggest (perhaps late for you but maybe for others): Rather than focus on only one source for your next equipment, try multiple?
Spend a little time trying Iffy.
Spend a little time trying to gather tomes.
Spend a little time trying to make some gil.

At the end of the day, one of the 3 will come true. Tomes and Gil are at least guaranteed, so they are good fallback if the randomizer on Iffy does not fall in your favour. And random being random, it could fail 1000 times in a row, then give you 1000 paladin swords in a row ^.^;;;

For those who want to feel lucky, there is things like Iffy. For those who want a sure thing, there are tomes & gil & seals. Me, I pick the one that gives me the least frustration : Crafting ^^;;

I've told many people this same thing, it is literally easier to get a relic than try to get any specific relic weapon from any of the primals.

Yes it is, but there's a problem though. When ya get to Titan or sometimes Garuda you're bound to get flamed by the douchebags that probably got lucky and had their rare weapons drop on their first few tries, or had their GC carry their asses through it.

The chance of only one blade dropping after 205 attempts is 0.48% aka so unlikely it is not realistic. You still call this purely random?

What I find ironic about this thread is here we have a player who clearly takes pride in his/her performance and wants to put his/her best foot forward when doing endgame content... and he/she is getting slammed for it. Take a moment to reflect on that. Shouldn't you people be encouraging this kind of pride instead of trying to stamp it out?

Seriously... if more players took the time to do their best to ensure they were properly geared, we all would probably be doing a lot better as a community. I myself feel the same way as the OP and am still working on farming CM for my Darklight set... for the exact same reason. I want to put my best foot forward and take great pride in my performance. I won't even attempt Ifrit until I get the full set, whether it's needed/required or not.

Don't listen to these asshats, OP. We need more people taking pride in their gear and performance and less people trying to skate by with the absolute minimum.

I feel your pain, it took 60 runs to get my claws. I saw about half a dozen swords drop btw.

It is worth noting that in that time you could have done enough CM runs to get the crafting mats, sold them and outright bought an ilevel 70 +1 GLA sword. You aren't at the mercy of the RNG if you don't want to be.

Complete agree with you, myself playing as a dps char, the difference in wpn does make a noticeable difference, especially in a lot of the games end game content that has DPS check, eg. wall, nails, sisters, plumes, heart.

it took me around 60 attempts before i got my lance, this community makes me laugh we have people moaning that people aren't gearing well enough or trying to ge geared up for content; then when the OP says he wants to be he best he can to help his party succeed he gets flamed because he has bad luck.

Just farm tomes with your i55 weapon and craft an i70 sword. Simple right? I dont know why you waste your time farming random drop if you can just farm cm and craft one

I'd go straight to Garuda and skip Ifrit. What we do in our LS is that we let everyone pick 1 weapon as priority loot and when it drops, they can loot for it (possibly against others with same priority). When a person gets their first priority weapon, they can pick another one, but will be second priority for that after everyone with first priority have gotten theirs. I think the system has worked very well and can recommend it to other groups.
