Could legacy characters transfer with gil/item reset?

It's not a needless restriction, it's a feature that's never existed in any MMO i've ever heard of, there is no precedent for this. there are plenty of ways aroudn the issue. If you can't go to them, have them come to you. or wait for going to them to become possible. there IS a reason why legacy players can transfer off. Offering to wipe everything on your character except vanity items is such a niche service I can't forsee them ever adding that, especially when the majority of interest in it would go away as soon as transfers off legacy worlds are available.

Despite what most people on these forums think, there doesn't have to be a precedent for everything, nor does something being a precedent automatically make it a great idea. We have brains, and mine hurts every time I read a comment that blindly says, "This is how it should be because it's the way it's always been in other games!" or "Don't question the devs! You're too entitled if you think that developers should listen to player feedback! This is THEIR game, so if you don't like their way of doing things then find another game to play!"

So tell me then... As you continue to insist that there IS a reason for why Legacy players can't transfer off of Legacy servers, would you care to enlighten me as to what that reason is? Because so far all that's been said by the developers is the vague comment about it being due to "economic conditions." The thinking man, however, would question how introducing gil to struggling economies is a bad thing. This is especially odd when considering that, if the gil patch from a couple of weeks ago is anything to base an assumption on (probably safe to say it is, otherwise why did we get the patch?), all servers -- especially new ones -- were very recently faced with a major gil shortage, therefore new servers are probably in significant need of a revitalizing boost. So what's this reason that you're standing by, and how would you back it up? Because until we're shown actual data, I call shenanigans on the vague economy comment that we've been fed, which would indeed make this a needless restriction.
