Could legacy characters transfer with gil/item reset?

Just curious. I have a lot of friends. I can ask them all to move to me, but I don't want to. It's kind of rude.

I would be willing to give up all of my gil and non-rare/ex items to transfer my existing character. Yes, I'd have a mount, some event items, and a different storyline than everyone else. But it seems unfair to give me the options of forcing all of my friends to hop servers vs. losing some of the perks that I got for playing through 1.0.

In the end, the only "advantages" (in the long run) of having a legacy character are the non-tradeable ones, so I don't see the problem in transferring characters with 0 gil and 0 items. If anything, I'd be at a disadvantage with the way earning gil works in this game. And just to be clear, my character is nowhere near all 50s. There are characters on new worlds that surpass me in level and gear both.

Don't really get your post, but just pointing out that you can't transfer a character from a legacy server to a "new" server. Its not planned for the start of the server transfer program.

Which is what I'm asking for. People are worried that legacy character transfers would have an unfair advantage to monopolize new servers, I'm asking that they allow legacy transfers with no items/gil.

Don't really get your post, but just pointing out that you can't transfer a character from a legacy server to a "new" server. Its not planned for the start of the server transfer program.

lets just ignore the fact that the new servers are already on par with the legacy ones in every single way, heck the new servers are probably already monopolized anyway and IK they are just as far along content wise.

This whole "can i erase my progress but keep my vanity items' thing is silly. I can't imagine for the life of me why someone would want to do that.

And transfering but NOT keeping your vanity crap makes even less sense. Just create a new freakin character.

Uh I can see why someone would want to play with friends- but why would you want to more or less wipe your character in the process? I say either transfer your character, 100% intact, or create a new one on your friends server.

All the items you paid money for will be on new characters you create. You can verify this now. Create a new character on any server. you will recieve all the bonus items that are associated with your account.

The only things you can't get you didn't pay money for (direcrly): The goobbue, and the mark on your back.

Playing alone until transfers are available is of course an option, but not a lot of FC's are open to "Hey, I just need to join for a few months. No one get to know me because I'll leave you all eventually." Playing the game without friends kind of defies the point of playing an MMO.

If you're trying to play with friends (as people are ridiculing me for allegedly failing to understand, when in fact i haven't), why can't they transfer to your server?

I think the point was that it's not that big of a deal. If playing with friends takes precedence over vanity goods of a character, you do what you gotta do (make a new character). If it doesn't, then... friends take a backseat for now. Work within limitations, it's not that bad. Seriously, it's not the end of the world to make decisions for yourself that "sacrifices" something in a video game.

Because I paid RL money (subscriptions)to get my vanity items, and they're the only thing that my old character has that a new character wouldn't. If I create a "temporary" new character, I would have to try to keep up progress on both characters, so that I could eventually transfer my legacy when I'm allowed. I'm actually doing atm, and it's proving a pain in the arse.
