if it says SATA III, it's still also SATA I/II right? since ps3 doesn't support III...
All SSDs are backwards compatible. I've had an Samsung 840 SSD installed in my PS3 for awhile and its very responsive in comparison to the original one that came with. I would recommend it!

Thats actually really cheap for what it is, and 3 year warranty! Doesn't look like a bad buy to me.

Just to let everyone know the PS3 use SATA 1, so the speed is caped by the bus to 150 mb/s max. So when you look of a SSD don't buy a really good one that it have speeds of 500mb/s. It will perform the same as a lower end counterpart. The main part of SSD vs normal hard drives is almost having zero the seek time.

    Thats all.

It's a great upgrade for the ps3, if not the only thing you can change.

Are there ways to transfer files from the old HD to the new SSD or do I need to download the game again and start from scratch? It isn't a huge deal but I am kind of curious what others are doing.

The PS3 has a system backup utility.

    Check it out.

As to whether or not this will make it so you don't have to download and reinstall the client, I dunno. I'd imagine so, since the client is tied to your PSN account and not the local hardware. But I could be wrong.
