    Solution to WAR problem is to nerf PLD

    Lets face the truth, the problem with WAR is not because they can't tank content but is because people think PLD is better. The real solution is not to buff WAR but to nerf PLD. Change Shield Oath to increases chance to block by 50% then the problem would solve itself.

    This being said- you can main tank just fine as I tend to run main tank over my FC's paladin tank, but what you need to understand is they are designed to pull more enmity and soak more damage than you. Where you can go against the grain is how you utilize your abilities which make you surpass the paladin tank in *every* aspect *for 15-30 seconds* on a 90-180 second rotation- the trick is knowing when you need to surpass them and having a paladin willing to throttle back on their enmity generation to focus instead on stuns... just remember that their role ISN'T damage so the fights aren't catered for 2 tanks with a few exceptions in the coils.

    so what out preform a paladin's 100% DR, or 40% DR or 20% DR? every 15-30 sec or 90-180 sec??? do tell!

    Note the "paladin willing to throttle back on their enmity generation" part of my post. Holding aggro over them for 15 seconds is nice, but if they just take it back afterward kind of pointless, hmm?

    If you really want the answer to this pm me, I won't recite the rotation as the macro-hating troll will fail at recreating it and cry.

    *shrug* Warrior tanks just fine, requires persistent research and rotation/macro design catering to each fight but let's do some simple math coupled with some research and apply it to the developers for a second. 8 classes in the game, coincidentally 8 spots in end game content. 2 healers, 6 DPS in the game each catering to very specific tasks/buffs/play styles and this includes 2 tanks. Only 1 can hold aggro, static abilities and stats favor the paladin so the question is where does the warrior stand? We are the Off tank, designed to pick up adds and swap from pseudo tanking to pseudo DPS because, should the paladin die, we have the ability to instantly swap to tank mode and hold aggro long enough for the rez debuff to were off where the paladin uses- surprise- an ability that puts them automatically to top enmity +1 to continue the fight.

    Reminds me of Version 1, when everyone thought Paladin was garbage compared to Warrior. While Warrior was still very relevant, Paladin became the tank of choice for endgame once people figured out how to play it.

    Erm...no. PLD sword skills and shield block ratings got buffed while WAR AoE got nerfed. PLD was pretty much garbage before the buff, specially keeping in mind that everyone that was level capped cared more about speed-running dungeons and/or AoE aggro, which WAR was optimal for.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
