A suggested change to the Markets to make it fair

The main cause to undercutting is the listing method that the markets currently use which is by cost then by retainer name and this is what causes undercutting.

My retainers name starts with an “M” so if I’m posting at the same price as say 30 other ppl guess what happens? My post gets buried by countless pages of listings and a shopper will start buying from the 1st cheapest post. So what option do I have but to undercut others just to put my name at the front or be cursed to have my mats posted for ever forcing me to sell my mats eventually to an NPC for 1 gold each.

So SE why not change the default listing to not the current unfair method you have now but to have it sorted first by price then by posting date that way everyone has a turn at the front at some point and sales will be much better distributed.

That and people will stop cursing me for constant undercutting just to sell my mats that have been on sale for weeks and I just want to get rid of them.

I miss the XI AH where you can't see prices and just sell stuff based on what the history is like.

Well changing your retainer name would work but then the Markets would get flooded with weird names, and just like the GS sellers clone armies out in the fields would make me want to go postal on the Market boards.

I highly doubt undercutting has anything to do with names.
could it be for monetary reasons? psh, naw, gotta be the names.

Easier to blame something else other than themselves...why even bother trading a saturated item and then blame your own failure on being undercut?

I don't understand your logic, are you seriously telling me don't bother placing items in a saturated market? If you are your just proving my point. Why should posting items in a saturated market condemn you as a seller never to be able to sell your items if you post it at the same cost as other posters just because your retainers name wont show unless a byer scrolls down 2 listings. You could just sit there and say well eventually the others will be bought out and you can sell your items in a few days, which would be true if only they didn't replenish what they sold. Would it kill SE to adjust the listing to use postage date as the 2nd listing filter instead of by name?

Honestly I could undercut as much as I like since I consider NQ mats as useless for me as I farm grind for HQ mats and then craft grind on those HQ mats to sell at a higher rate on the markets as a higher end product, I just don't want to ruin things for others.

In most cases I have way too many mats to place in the market as is, I usually end up NPCing 20 stacks of mats, its unfortunate but in the end it still covers repair costs.

Logic is... If there are alot of items sitting there, they aren't selling that fast.
If there are no items there, they are either very in demand or not in demand at all.

Odds are, yes. Waiting to post your items may give you a better yield.

This is EXACTLY the thought process I love!!! I make so many HQ items out of NQ items!!! I don't even make 1 or 2 star items because they are more of a hassel vs the level 50 no star items and people eat up the items I make like it's nothing! You keep farming me NQ and I'll keep selling them HQ made from you HQ

I have no problems with you doing that, I HQ almost all gear I make from NQ mats but for say Ore into Ingots and further at this time I don't want to go that way. Once I get my DoL HQ gear all decked out in materia and my priority then really focuses on doing all my DoH gear materia then my priority will change. Mind you I probably wont push for HQ on ingots from NQ mats since I don't want to spend a long time just doing 1 HQ, I read in a forum some one that took a synth to stage 99 and the time that must have taken is just absurd. One thing I like to do in cases like that is to dilute an HQ synth by doing 50% NQ and 50% HQ giving you an almost guaranteed HQ at a relatively quick pace.

But my point is with all things equal price and quantity posted in the Market should not push you further down the list because some ones retainer name is closer to the beginning of the alphabet and they've posted after you did.
