Vita play is limited to non-party actions. You can't join a party or do Duty Finder. But you can craft, inventory manage, etc.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Can you use remote play without the ps4 being turned on? If not they list a very poor example of it's usefulness:"Yoshida-san makes the example of gathering, fishing, crafting or questing solo while relaxing on the couch on the PS Vita, and then, when the time for party play starts, one can switch to the PS4 to enjoy the challenging dungeon content on the big screen."

If your playing on your PS4 aren't you already on the couch? I mean I guess it would be nice for crafting while dropping a duece. Other than that what would remote play be good for? I plan on getting a PS4 and would like a vita as well but that's a lot of cash to throw down.

That i can understand due to H/W limitations...though it still a great idea in terms with being able to lvl up your craft when the other half kicks you off the TV lol

You can use remote play via the internet. For example, you could be at a friend's house and activate remote play and your ps4 at home will turn on (provided there's an internet connection in both locations). Hell, you could even play if you had the phone service on your vita and use that as a connection (not that i'd personally waste my money on that phone service). So, as long as you have an internet/phone connection, you can use remote play on a vita.

Edit: You could also use it on your couch, if some one else is already using the tv, or wants to use the tv.

While they were talking about a stand alone Vita version, You will also be able to play the PS4 Version via the Vita, via Remote Play. The PS4 Will have remote play enabled at the system level, as opposed to the PS3 where it had to be enabled on the game level, and only like 20 games can do it.

Yes, the PS4 needs to be turned on for Remote play, but in most cases remote play is used when you don't have access to the TV or you just want to lie in a bed and play (in that case the PS4/TV is in another room).

You can also remote play from a friends house (or even when you're overseas!) once you have wifi access and the PS4 has the appropriate options available.

I'm actually excited for the Vita app and even more so for the game when I get a PS4.

I was assuming that as well...though according to shuhei yoshida (SCEE) it is upto the developers to allow remote play on a software level

Odin/Behometh FATES will be interesting if we can remote play on the PS Vita lol
