No disrespect but you kind of brought it on yourself. I know you said in a follow-up comment that you wanted to be above the minimum level for story quests but burning to 50 wasn't really required to be able to comfortably do the story.

with respect, I don't see the problem. At another class later on down the road, FATEs in Bluefog give around 14-18k exp at 44. (Gold rating) It only really ramps up to 20k/fate at 49, but that's not the point. FATEs take way less time than quests.
Main storyline does not require you to be a specific class. You can switch classes when its time to get your XP. Of course if you do not have a second class that is a valid value then you can not ^.^;;
XP is a rare commodity here, so it needs to be valued. I can understand not wanting to waste XP earned because you are level 50, but then I would have to ask:
You did some stories, you got some XP. Did you not understand when you did more you would get more XP... and if you were level 50 it would disappear ?
Or did you somehow get the impression that it would be converted/stored elsewhere?
(These are legitimate questions, because maybe SE needs to add a little help screen first time you finish a quest to give you this warning).
that's why you don't rush your level, you already knew story quests give xp, yoshi also mentioned before that doing the story missions will get your first job to 50.
You're honestly not missing out one much. Each quest gives like a small FATE worth of EXP. Don't worry about it.
You're a gladiator (and paladin obv) and you went to do Fates? What a waste. By the time you need to level a non tank class you'll have no quests and have to experience fates (eurgh) all over again.
Should have spammed dungeons till you know them like the back of your hand and get some nice gear out of it.
