156 Accounts receiving disciplinary action for illicit activity?

    From this thread:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-%28Oct.-1%29- Date: Sep. 12 – Sep. 30, 2013

    - Accounts receiving disciplinary action for RMT site advertisements: 6,154 accounts
    - Accounts receiving disciplinary action for illicit activity: 156 accounts
    - Action Details: Termination from FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn

Ok, forgive me for being sceptical here, but what exactly is 156 Accounts receiving disciplinary action for illicit activity?
Are these teleport/speed hacker gatherers? People selling gil? I'd really like to know, because 156 seems like a VERY small figure when you think about the number of servers there are.
Heck, I am pretty sure we could almost give you 156 teleport/speed hacker gatherers on Diabolos alone.

I know I personally have reported at least 30 of these in the last few weeks.

Agree, 156 sounds like the number of people I have in my blacklist. And it keeps growing, daily.

they are not going to take action just because a person said they should..

they have to investigate the reports first and that takes time. The Gil spammers and farmers are easier to catch.

and they didn't define what they used as "illicit" activity..only you put the teleport and speed hackers in that category. Not saying they don't belong in that category but they may have had a different definition more tied to the gold farming and spamming when they defined what Illicit meant in this round of actions.

They may have lumped teleporters and mining bots with RMT as that's their most likely use and by illicit they are talking about exploits like chimera bug etc.

They've likely cracked down some buyers as well.
It's not really hard to track down large gil transactions.

I seriously hope this is just the usual SE bad phrasing at work and that the 'RMT ad' count DOES include telebots, because if not I totally agree with the OP that 156 is pathetically low. I'll be interested to inspect my blacklist when I get home to see if there are any '(deleted)', which included bots I reports as well as spammers.

Well after logging in and checking on Diabolos, there was only 1 [deleted] (on my blacklist of almost 200), and the 12 or so teleport miners operating right outside Ul'dah were still there. Same ones as the last 2-3 weeks.
    Pretty discouraging really.

So I am guessing it was neither of those that came under "illegal activity".

If you read what I said rather than what you think I said....I asked what constituted "illegal activity". Then made a couple of guesses at what it may be.

SE does NOT delete characters. Only the account holder. So those on your blacklist could be part of a suspended or banned account, but the characters still there as they have not been deleted. Doesn't mean they are still shouting RMT or botting.
