Few tips I wished I knew before getting crazy…

. You can cycle only through enemies with the combination L2/R2 * L1/R1. Clicking L1/R1 moves backward/forward between enemies. The enemies get selected, not just focused
. You may want to set the controller as dpad-dpad/buttons-buttons. It would be better if you give it a try now that you just started. I find it a bit less confusing, at leat the buttons descriptions are properly placed on top of them.

Michelasso: Thanks, very good tip. Targeting etc has been a bit confusing with a controller. Also had some fun with the entire hotbar setup. I admit I approached this with a PC Gamer mindset which has hindered me in getting to grips with the console setup.

SUGGESTION

Other new players using a PS3 might benefit from looking at the system config and Keyboard bindings, assuming you have a keyboard you will find it handy to learn controlls. Example being page up/down for zooming on char 3rd person............
