Rather then complaining that you cant play with your friends because you are on a Legacy server, simply have them transfer to YOUR server...

Why is everyone so simple-minded about this? It's not that easy. On Excalibur, I have myself, my wife and a friend. On Ultros, there are 8~ people from work, and another 20+ from my old XI LS. Why would I ask 30~ people to move to Excalibur when I can solve the same problem with three transfers to Ultros?

I think people are assuming that all of the Legacy servers only have characters with multiple level 50 professions/classes and millions of gil. They don't. In fact, I'd bet that the majority are DON'T have those things. The majority are probably folks that gave up on version 1.0 about one to three months in and are now just coming back to play...just like you. They may have a few more levels on a class or two, but other than that nothing. For me, it would be a level 27 archer with 47,000 gil. Whooptee f&#@ing doo.

This is similar to my own, except it's me and 2 RL friends on Excalibur. Probably about 10 or so FFXI friends and one of them has another 15-20 of his friends on Coeurl. Now, just us 2 alone would be bringing 55-60~ people to a legacy server because 6 of us aren't allowed to transfer to them.
I should note, me and my 2 friends started in 1.0 (not legacy, we never paid for it when it when pay to play) we wanted to keep our characters, not start over, so we did. my highest level? 37 ARC/BRD, 150k give or take to my name.

Everyone shouldn't be punished because a few could 'ruin the economy' or whatever the excuse is.

I keep hearing people say this. It's the same with my small group. It seems like lots of new world people are planning to move to the already full Legacy worlds because they don't have a choice. The people we played with in other MMOs are there and SE will only let people transfer onto, not off of them.

SE should not be surprised if all Legacy worlds (NA/EU ones at least) go back to large queues, if not 1017s, after the server moves. I know it's not exactly scientific, but 4 out of the 5 NA/EU legacy worlds are top-10 during each prime time. That includes 3 of the 4 "NA" legacy worlds during EU prime time.
