Keep making a fuss over it and the devs will have to listen.

Seriously this is complete utter nonsense. Do they honestly think that all the Legacy servers are just going to become barren? I just don't see their doomsday scenario of a bunch of people moving to non-legacy servers and completely overtaking the economies of those servers happening - especially if they're capping the gil that can be transferred. I understand their concerns however it really does seem like a paranoid delusion at this point.

I just want to play with my real friends whom I'd badgered repeatedly about taking another look at this game before it came out. They bought it, LOVE IT, and just want to all play together. One of my friends has a kid on the way too, so it'd be nice to actually be able to play together before the little bundle of joy pops out and all his time is consumed by said child.

This really, really sucks and there's no verifiable justification for it. Supposing that some people do transfer over with a crapload of cobalt, electrum, twinthread or what have you - who's going to buy it? As is, a lot of the high level gear - even HQ versions - is dirt cheap on the Legacy servers because of the abundance of high level players. IIRC, the census @ GDC showed the number players with at least 1 class at 50 is double the average on Legacy servers over the others.

So again, you transfer over and.... you quickly find there aren't a whole lot of folks ready to buy the stuff you've been selling on the legacy servers. Worst case scenario a few people flood the markets with cheap HQ items for a while, big deal - I'd much rather be on a server where raw materials are actually worth something. Right now on Excalibur, Cobalt Ingots only go for 100 gil, it's ridiculous (Steel is crazy expensive for some bizarre reason).
