I want to start my Relic quest now, but I don't know if transfers will mess it up. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

Can we PLEASE get a game developer on here to explain their EXACT reasoning that legacy characters cannot transfer to non legacy worlds? And explain it in light of: 1) RMT has destroyed the economies of most worlds at this point anyway. and 2) We're limited how much gil we can transfer with us.
You're going to end up with legacy servers being stupidly overcrowded and others as ghost towns because of this restriction. If I want to play with my friends, I have to convince them to join me. How is that fair, when I didn't join their server in the first place because of log in restrictions far beyond my control?
Square, fix this or you'll be losing a customer. I hear Guild Wars 2 is doing excellent right now.

At least devs owe us an explanation for the legacy -> non legacy forbidden transfer AND a date about when this will be possible.
Once again I don't pretend to be the smarter guy who knows it all about server economies and such. But about two things I'm 100% sure:
- This is not how a costumer should be treated (if there's something messed up and I'm not the culprit I should NOT pay the consequences as costumer) so you should really find another workaround for this problem.
- As a costumer I have the right to know ALL the details about why my service options are fewer because I play on a Legacy World.
I'll be waiting for your answer and not for excuses.

Hopefully this being "preliminary" means that this part can change before it launches. I don't think it is fair to ask my friends who have likely met new people to transfer to my server. It's also not fair that I should lose the character I've had for this long in order to play with them, especially when there are already economy protecting measures applied to all transfers.

It would be nice to knew the time frame when a legacy players could transfer to a non-legacy servers
1 suggestion for those of us concerned with Legacy --> Non-Legacy transfers.
In my experience with FFXI forums, the posts with the most LIKES get more attention from the community reps, and by extension, the devs. I'm seeing lots and lots of people expressing these concerns, but each of these posts have 0-10 likes.
Please use the LIKE feature and LIKE posts expressing a similar viewpoint to yours. The community reps don't have time to read through every thread and see what the common themes of posts are. However, it's quite easy for them to look for posts with a high number of LIKES to see what a large number of people are interested in / concerned about.
On the Japanese side, they are really good at this, but we're not so good at it on the NA side.
TL;DR: Please use the LIKE feature on posts you agree with. This is the most efficient way to get community rep attention.

I'm just speculating of course, but if I would lose Legacy Status by transferring to a Non-Legacy world...I really don't care. I just want to be able to play the game with my daughter but I am on Excalibur which is full so she probably won't be able to transfer to me and I'll bet that all the Legacy Worlds are full or will fill up fast preventing us both from transferring to them.
Is there anyone willing to give up a spot on Excal so my daughter can join me? (not that it would help).
I am willing to give up my spot on Excal and my daughters spot on Cactuar for 2 slots on another Legacy World. (as if that would help).
p.s I seriously doubt my 250k gil is going to hurt a Non-Legacy Worlds economy and I only have 3 lvl 50 Battle Classes (the rest are 30-ish) and all my DoH/L are lvl 36 or lower.
SE, just please make it work somehow so we can play together. As long as it's an NA World, I don't care where we end up.

Seriously, if there is no obvious alternative available (like a brand new Legacy world with lots of space), have your daughter and friends transfer to your Legacy world. SE said they may split worlds (i.e. world count goes up +1) and they won't know to do that until they see all the transfer requests. IMHO there are no more likely candidates for splitting up than NA/EU Legacy worlds.I'm just speculating of course, but if I would lose Legacy Status by transferring to a Non-Legacy world...I really don't care. NEXT TOPIC:
SE Rep Bayohne posted this next bit on another World Transfer thread, and I'm including it here to conserve my post count.
Greetings,
Please disregard the World Transfer Service requirement that mentions "Your free trial must be expired." Anyone that has purchased the game and registered their code is not on a "free trial" period. For your reference, purchasing the game and adding your 30-days of play time, is considered as actual subscription time, so users would not be affected by this requirement.
For clarity, we will be updating the site to remove that line. Sorry for the confusion and inconvenience that this has caused.
