I need server transfer now!

Rather then complaining that you cant play with your friends because you are on a Legacy server, simply have them transfer to YOUR server. From what I have read though legacy servers can not transfer from a legacy server, standard servers can go TO legacy servers. Tell your friends to transfer to the Legacy server you are on during the 5 days of free transfers if it means that much to you.

I tried this. At launch. Hyperion was locked down the entire first week. It is also the most congested Legacy server from what I have seen. So when my friends can transfer I highly expect Hyperion to be locked out then as well.

I think people are assuming that all of the Legacy servers only have characters with multiple level 50 professions/classes and millions of gil. They don't. In fact, I'd bet that the majority are DON'T have those things. The majority are probably folks that gave up on version 1.0 about one to three months in and are now just coming back to play...just like you. They may have a few more levels on a class or two, but other than that nothing. For me, it would be a level 27 archer with 47,000 gil. Whooptee f&#@ing doo.

This was me. I had a 1.0 character. Level 5 marauder with like 500g. Yeah I am serious. That's what it was. Big threat to the economy and game.

I'm just hoping there are no restrictions imposed when it comes to realm transfers between NA/EU and JP servers. I have a friend who wants to transfer to the JP server the rest of us play on, but unless I missed it, this hasn't been addressed yet.

How are people just realizing that they could not Transfer from legacy to non. Its been known since beta. If you were a legacy you could of had your friends join your server. If you were non and joined a legacy server hoping to transfer you should have read up . You could have just waited to make a character when the server you wanted opened up.

Now instead of waiting a week or two to get in the server you wanted now you gotta wait months.

While this was known since the beta, a lot of players had no knowledge as to when or if the server they wanted would open up in a few weeks time. I personally waited for a week to see if maybe our target server would open up. It didn't even once, and there was never any certainty that it would, and so we started playing where we could like many others, who were only able to pick Legacy servers despite not wanting to play on one.

You can say it's on the player, but it's really not the player's fault for wanting to play the game. Considering the free transfers are there almost specifically to remedy the fact that people were separated from their friends and thrown into random servers alone, it makes all the more sense for this to encompass new players that had no choice but to roll on Legacy servers. It's the exact same circumstance.

Actually, my 1.0 character was on Excalibur and no one could make one on Excalibur until they got the login issues fixed long after they had already started on Ultros...

So, no, I could have my 1.0 character on Ultros any more than they could have their new ones on Excalibur, unless they wanted to forego playing by a week or two.

People aren't just realizing they can't transfer. What we're realizing is that it causes a lot of problems that we didn't plan on, and the reason SE (and the later-phase community on beta forums) gave for the delay isn't really valid. The legacy economies aren't drastically different from new servers; the players that would move from legacy would most likely not fit the stereotype anyway.

The current economy cannot be dominated; there isn't enough demand for items. Very few players, even of legacy, have the amount of gil you suggest (to buy "a ton of HQ items"). Moreover, someone made the excellent suggestion that all gear should bind on transfer; that only leaves materials and other junk that has 0 demand atm.

I think what I'm trying to say is there are better workarounds than simply stopping all transfers, if someone at SE would put in the time.

Originally one of my friends, who was legacy, started off on Excalibur (NA Legacy) so I had joined him there during beta 4 and early access. The rest of my friends who wanted to play bought the game but tried to create characters on Excalibur for days only to run into the infamous character creation restrictions where they could not so they ended up creating characters on the first server they could find that worked which happened to be Adamantoise for them so they all flocked there. I opted to just wait and hope world transfers would be available soon, also to my fault, not realizing that I wouldn't even be able to transfer when it opens.

Like my previous post had mentioned, I have about 10-12 friends that created characters on Adamantoise about a day or so after regular release and are already in an FC/LS, made friends within the community they leveled with, etc. and Square's solution is that they can/should transfer to me because they're on Non-legacy and headed to Legacy whereas I am on Legacy, am only one person but would not be allowed to transfer off this server during the five day free period and possibly not for a great while as no time frame was given as far as I can see regarding Legacy world to Non-legacy world transfer. This is extremely frustrating because I had invested time in my own character that I may now either need to abandon and start all over to be with my friends or try and convince everyone to transfer to me, assuming it even works and the website doesn't go down due to the extreme load it is likely to be put under.

I really hope they reconsider their position on legacy to non-legacy server transfers in relation to the time they plan on releasing the service and hopefully making it free (AGAIN if they do push back the date for legacy->non-legacy) for people stuck on legacy servers. I honestly can't see myself paying for this game for too long not being able to play with my friends, which is what kept me with other MMOs for years and years. I had already resubbed for this upcoming month but beyond that, I am not too sure if I can't be with my friends... This may sound like an ultimatum but at the end of the day, an MMO is a social beast which a great deal of people typically plays with their friends. Not being able to do that is an issue that needs to be released to the best of their ability and I do not feel that is the case right now. Please fix this.

Dear Valarice,

I am stuck in the same situation as yours. I did not play the beta version so I did not even know what a legacy server means back then. My friends all chose other server because Excalibur was never opened for new character creation on reasonable time frame. I am at a place where I need to decide on keep playing on my own, or just start all over on Faerie.... I should add you to my friend list on Excalibur haha
