    Launcher Error -2146697211 (0x800C0005)

    After hours of googling I think I've tried every "fix" the internet has to offer, but nothing seems to get rid of this error for me. My googling also revealed that I am not alone in having this issue.

    The error has to do with the fact that you are using a web browser component in your launcher, something which makes it very vulnerable to all kinds of registry settings and whatnot. A native UI would be preferable, at least for the most crucial function of a launcher: Logging in and launching the game. It feels very unnecessary that I am unable to play the game I have paid for due to a user interface error.

    I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but I assume you've uninstalled and tried reinstalling it? (Sorry, I'm not a techie, just trying to help Lol)

    Also, on a side note, we don't have to uninstall and reinstall the client if we participated in P4, right?

    Try updating your Internet Explorer as well.

    Not sure what OS you run, but a friend of mine was having issues with Windows 8's latest build. He rolled it back before then and had no issues.

    You're correct. The game you have now is the client that will be used for EA and Release (The P4 Client)

    Yes, SE stated that the client we used in P4 will be valid for EA and launch.

    First I have a confession to make. It's not me getting this error, but a friend of mine which is on the fence about getting FFXIV. Let's just say, if the error doesn't go away I know which side of the fence he's going to end up on

    He didn't get to play the open beta because of the same error so he doesn't know how great it is!

    Tried reinstalling it?
    Yes

    Have you tried running the program as administrator?
    Yes, also fiddled with those compatibility settings.

    Try updating your Internet Explorer as well?
    Ran Windows Update and got everything. IE 10 already installed. HTTPS sites work fine. He's got Windows 7.

    Other things I've tried:
    - Disabled firewall both in windows and router.
    - Disabled UAC.
    - Reset all IE settings to default.
    - And more...

    I appreciate everyone wanting to help, but what I really want is for Square Enix to make their launcher not rely on this web component which is notorious for causing trouble. I'm almost positive a fresh install of Windows will make the error go away, but it's not an optimal solution.

    i don't believe it is, my framework is all up to date and i was playing just last night to wake up and get this error as well as [30605][10009][10020]. i believe that these errors are not on our side.

    on a side not, i was getting these errors all morning and did nothing to fix them except google for a fix. i opened the launcher and it loaded fin and was able to log in.

    so for these errors it looks likes patience is the only fix.

    I had this issue today, the launcher now works after I removed the mark from box under proxy server in tools>internet options>connections>LAN settings.
