Ever mess around in a dungeon? (A shoutout to a good player as well)

Well, I had a bad run in Brayflox that turned out to be a blast of fun despite running out of time (see below).

I had run the dungeon several times, never really had too much a problem with PUGs. My last run tonight though I just have to describe. Started out fine, group was progressing through around the lake/swamp bit that people usually use to bypass all the unecessary mobs. As we are circling, we draw three mobs in to deal with, but two more showed up. Healer goes down, and suddenly my group is all gone. So, at that exact moment I still had two enemies aggroed and thus got to have a thrilling time running away from them, all the way back down to the second sub-boss area.

So, a lalafell scholar named Azryol Desanges (I pray I got this right) popped up, and somehow with his help I beat down the two mobs. He asked what happened to my group, and we ended up chatting about the situation. Eventually we had a black mage join up as well. We figured that we could not deal with the final sub-boss, so we first tried finishing off the mobs in the swamp area. Having done so, we pretty much threw ourselves into the wind and faced the sub-boss, I was rotating around it, trying to keep it off them, whilst they healed. I had heard of groups of three doing stuff like this, but I didn't think it was possible at the time. We succeeded, and proceeded to make our way up to the final boss, with like 14 mins left.

Yeah, did not make it too far before we all went down. It was way under 10 mins now, so we decided to go for the last treasure chest.

Suddenly a tank pops up, after over 50 mins, and attempts to fight the boss. We ended up running out of time at just under half health.

In the end, I nearly fell off my chair laughing at the sheer lunacy of it all. While usually one would just have left and chanced another DF run, but I decided to ignore common sense and in the end had a better time than most normal runs. I ended up with a new weapon set and some soldier gloves, and even got to lv35 on my monk job, which was the real reason I went in to begin with.

Azryol Desanges, I wish you the best of luck in your adventures, and I regret not being on the same server. You are an example of a good player that's willing to just have a good time even in such abnormal circumstances.

I suppose to anyone who managed to read through all this, hopefully you have something to share that is equally as humorous or enlightening. It was a rather unique experience for me.

That sounds like a lot of fun! I have had a few experiences in dungeons that were just silly

I had a run in CM where I was one of two tanks. Just outside of the first boss, one healer was trailing behind and aggro'd the guards at the door to the boss. Tank instincts kicking in, I rushed out to grab hate, only to have the gate lock the moment I stepped outside.

We probably should have just died and come back. But heck no, that healer and I tangled with 3 mobs for the whole duration of the boss fight.

Of course there was also the time 3 BLM healed me through both forms of the Ultima Weapon and Lahabrea.... Only 3 DPS survived into the Ultima DPS race and they nailed it!
