A solution to the "Who quits first?" in HM Primals.

So, I just got out of Ifrit hard mode. We were with Two Paladins, 2 White Mages, and 4 Bards. There was absolutely no way we'd win that fight. So, when we decided that someone had to quit out but no one wanted to I came up with a game that was 100% fair and anyone was subject to elimination.

I moved my character forward after typing this:

"The first one to die quits! "

I pulled with Provoke, and ran like crazy. The "O_O"'s popped up in the text chat as Ifrit got his first victim, a Bard. Surprisingly enough, that Bard left. Ladies and gentlemen, your solution to the stalemate! Strange, but oddly enough more fun than it sounds, running like ants away from the giant boot that is Ifrit and seeing who gets stomped on first.

    I think I may have come up with a mini-game. >_>

This seriously, get everyone to group up on the tank and get the guard LB. It's the only way for the party to survive the Hellfire damage.

Yep.. better wait until someone leaves instead of trying to do the encounter, and maybe improve your skills by that way. DF gets better and better..

Hey, I'd love the challenge to do it with 4 bards. Problem being, not everyone else is and is convinced that it's impossible/not going to try. At that point, I may as well have fun with it as trying to convince random internet people to do something is like trying to break down a brick wall with your face. May as well get naysayers killed in giggles than to sit there arguing with a bunch of people I will never see again.

I know this isn't supposed to be satire, but this is what people do anyway. They don't want to get the quit penalty but they want to leave, so they agro the boss, pull it to the group, and intentionally try to wipe everyone. The only difference here is you've made a "game" out of it, but the same thing being done by jerks leads to the same outcome: one of the first, if not the first, to die to that crap leaves while the offender gets to leave without a penalty.

Actually, if I were to die first, I'd gladly leave. Again, I'm not doing it to tick anyone off. :P If the majority of the group feels like it's not going to work, and someone needs to leave why not have fun with rather than just standing there going "No you quit first!" I dunno, I rather have fun while I can than sitting there being super serious and ticked off all the time. In fact, I'd rather just switch out to my swimwear to give a more fair chance that I'd die first. Do me and others a favor and don't lump people together into one group for the sake of an explanation. Generalizing = bad. :P

Why was there no way you would win. I have done that fight numerous times without an LB. People need to stop giving up so easy.
Didn't ready what I said, did you? I said I am fine with trying, however if the majority of the group doesn't feel like we can't I'm not going to try to convince them. Why? Because trying to convince random people on the internet of something is like beating your head against a wall. Which is a shame, because that leads to nothing new being discovered/explored and the same stuff being done all the time. Which leads to boredom.

Also, congrats to those who DID beat him without a black mage LB. That's good. Doing it new ways is fun and not monotonous. However, borderline arrogant it may be put. Still, awesome. Maybe do others the service of starting a thread of different ways to beat the HM Primals is far more productive than simply mentioning it in a thread in response to a run.

To be honest, deciding to make a game out of it and going ahead with that plan before even asking anyone if they want to "play" is just about the same in practice. A better way to do that, if so inclined, is to let them know in advance and give everyone time to strip down naked as to avoid a repair cost. But just announcing it and going ahead and doing that without confirmation is mechanically no different than the people who are wiping runs in the first place. You may find it fun, but I guarantee you not everyone else will, and if you're at the point that you want to construct Primal Roulette to decide who quits, you've already made up your mind to leave the group, so why not just go ahead and leave yourself? If I'm the first to want to give up, I'll take the hit, but I'm usually willing to stick around and try.

I am simply adding another solution. Your way is fun and creative but unnecessary. I posted before I saw you responded to someone else with the same question. I am not in any way being arrogant, I am simply pointing out that I don't even think the fight was meant to be done with the LB3, it is just the easiest way to do it, and everyone wants easy mode. Did your group really not even try it lol? Everyone just zones in and is like "oh well, guess we cant do it".
