This practice has been prevalent with SE Chat for as long as I have been playing their MMOs (2005). Your's is not the first complaint about deficiencies with SEs overall Customer Service and, unless things change, it will not be the last.
Just got off chat with a customer support agent. Its clear SE doesn't care about money, who owns accounts, nor their current customers. I'm totally heated right now. I have to get a recovery sheet notarized when I'm disabled and can't drive. It's very complicated for me, let alone do all the mailing etc.
Why couldn't i just provide my ID etc? I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to verify my old account.
Never have i seen so much bullcrap to do, not only that they'll kick you when you're down!
