Excluding Players from Ultimate Savage is Not the Right Move

But it contridicts itself if it's supposed to have such difficult restrictions for getting there YET it's not that hard to get around it whether you are ready to challenge the hardest content or not. The original discussion was the content shouldn't be locked out for casual players, but you only need to wait and suddenly it's actually in reach for just about anyone.

But that's everything in this game - all content is outdated eventually and thus easier to access. In the big scheme of things that's how it should be so new players can eventually get caught up, or for old players to go back and complete things they couldn't at the time. What matters is when the content is current. Furthermore, it's kind of a theme in this game in general. Unlock Story Titan > hard Titan > extreme Titan. Normal Raids > savage raids > ultimate raids. That's the progression system. Nobody argued about letting people who never beat Titan in to Titan Extreme groups when it was relevant. Same thing here. There's a defined progression system where you complete content then tackle more difficult versions of that content. Whether or not someone "legitimately" cleared said content is irrelevant. Clear one challenge and you can move on to the next, that's how this game works and how most games in general work.

9y post... 9y later. Ultimate should not be gatekept. Saying it can wall players who are not ready isn't a good argument in my opinion, as some savage raiders might not feel ready

9y later, I have cleared 5 out of 6 Ultimates. I do not want to do Savage. I only want Ultimates. I play and join prog parties daily, because that's what I like. I dislike Savage prog and dealing with the egos that come with it... sure Ultimate has that too but at least I don't need to do it weekly. The only time that's valid for Ultimate is on launch, when it has the better weapon.

The issue with the gate, is its still there even when it's years old content. Thats just unnecessary.

Needing Savage gear for it for years is also unnecessary inventory space bloat. I play multiple jobs, too, so its even worse. Say I play tank and healer. Today, I can use current gear for ucob, uwu, tea, and now dsr is capped now, too, I think? You still want stats, so you'll still be carrying all that. Today, you'll also need FRU and the new one. That's way too much gear that takes up my space unnecessarily. I wish it was like Unreal or older Ultimates, where the gear caps need for materia.

Savage does not prove anything. It's an unnecessary gate. So, not clearing M4S proves im not good enough to clear Ultimate? I don't deserve the opportunity? But I cleared Savage tiers all before it. But I cleared 5 Ultimates before FRU. How does M4S prove im ready? I think clearing TOP is way more telling than clearing M4S. Its just a walk that's simply in the way

The gate needs to be removed. Only time is valid enough to be there is when the weapon is bis for those short weeks/months. Then again, I've never been into it being the best weapon at all. That's not why I go to clear. Its for the content and the glamour.

As soon as that raid tier becomes unlocked, the gate for Ultimate needs to drop, too. What's crazy is the weekly lock is removed from Ultimate, but the gate to access it remains? That's a bit silly

You can solo o4s but like try to prog m4s to unlock fru for example, or to kill p8s (still requires 8 people even unsynced!) for top. You'll just sit for hours in PF, for multiple days, and it's not a guarantee that you will ever get a party for it.

I did P8S recently in a few hours. Phase 1 is just hope for snakes first, freestyle everything else and brute force your way to P2. Phase 2 ends after High Concept if you have a normal party composition...or you can just bring 6 DPS, cheese Natural Alignment with tank invulns and kill the boss before he even gets to High Concept.

Which is a shame because High Concept is a fun mechanic, but if you're farming for glam you want it to go fast.
So technically all you need to learn in that fight is some basic stacks/spreads at the start of P2 and the cheese after, which takes barely any time if you have somewhat competent players.
