If that is the main takeaway they got from the criticism towards Dawntrail then all hope is really lost.Yoshida's been pretty involved with it on a personal level, and he's been talking about making the main game more like a mobile game as of late. At least as far as public corpo statements go, his main takeaway from the population decline is that the main game demands too much time from people when it comes to character progression, and that adding things like automated pathing to quest objectives will fix it.
The recent Q&A has him say "Please look forward to" a Switch 2 port after a player asked about it.
They really going for it.

More hype moments and aura. And gacha.
I hope it means everyone will finally get a house without the ridiculous lottery system."FFXIV has already taken its first step on a new ten-year journey, and this year will mark an especially significant second step. As I said, the world is changing, and FFXIV must be ready to change alongside it—reflecting the demands of an evolving market, as well as the ways you live and play. Drawing on everything we've learned, we are fully committed to delivering new experiences and fresh surprises in the years ahead. I hope you're looking forward to the next update, as well as everything we have planned for the upcoming Fan Festivals!"
What could it mean for FFXIV?

Just like with our storage situation and the fact they will never give us crafting bags because they can charge us $2 for each retainer, doubling (or even more) sub costs in some instances, using housing as a hostage tactic means they will never make housing have the availability that WoW or even FFXI added to theirs.
That being said, even here on Aether there are multiple houses currently open, so getting one cannot be that hard anymore for those who want one. There is one near my friend's house in Ishgard that has been available for at least 2 months now. So get them now while you can

I hope the devs are listening. We need the devs to please listen.

the msq from start to finish is immense. if it helps new players get to the end then thats good. as long as its optional.
this is specifically aimed at new players i feel rather than maxed level chars
they have never story skipped the last expac for example - perhaps its a looking at how to story skip without needing to buy it.
so i wouldnt be too concerned with current content
Gonna have a MicroSD+ just to store FFXIV alone.
But I'm not surprised otherwise. The Switch 2 has the needed power and is insanely popular. It's probably a way more lucrative direction than what Xbox or Mac has been and what Linux could be.

He previously said that DT as an alternate start option was considered, but they ultimately decided against it. What he's been specifically talking about more recently is making short sessions more rewarding for gear/level progression and ways to AFK through the MSQ, not condense it.he isnt wrong with this.

It would probably require a switch 2 platform license for FFXIV or something equally as ridiculous, If it truly happens I would need to take some grifting lessons from SE, damn.
