I can't believe we really waited 10 years just to get unrestricted glam because someone is adamant about job identity (even though they homogenized the gameplay). It's kinda hilariously sad if this is true.

I am so very glad it's not your kind that sits in management there.
I guess empathy is a rarity nowadays but people like you could really need a reminder that there are normal people working behind the scenes with life's and all that.
Thank God that part of the world has actual worker rights...
always bet on nothing

I think Yoshi P has evolved over the years. Some for good, some for bad.
I only hope he goes back to his 2.0 roots. I want him to look at the person he was back in 2.0 and find that joy in creation.
It's time for this game to be Reborn.

I hope the devs are listening. We need the devs to please listen.

Vaguely recall hearing it was a brand thing. Final Fantasy has a certain identity as a brand--chocobos are a certain way and chocobo music has a certain sound, white mages wear white and red robes, moogles are always cute and white and have poms and little bat wings, summoners have horns, the Prelude is the Prelude--and removing the job restrictions on artifact gear was something that went over Yoshi-P's head as the company wished to protect the brand. It wasn't about this game, it was about all Final Fantasies. I'm guessing upper management relented a bit.
By doing so, they'd give middle finger to loyal players who have been with XIV for a long time and acquired a lot of titles, levelled a lot of jobs, farmed lots of glamours, bought a lot of mog station items, got a house, got a lot of gil and basically keep game running by being always subscribed. You can't ask these people to abandon their characters and move on to a new MMO, you will have to work with new audience, work for new audience, and attract new audience.
Can SE really do that? Something tells me not so very much.

I outright don't believe Yoshida's words. He tends to exaggerate to the point it feels like he's lying to your face. Remember when he said Dawntrail would feature a conflict between the Scions that would create a rift between them?
And then that "conflict" was just "we're in different teams for this contest but we're still buddies and crack jokes"? This "rebirth" is literally going to be, at best, a new starting point in the MSQ when you create your character. That's it.

"Become the Warrior of Darkness" was the one that made me the most angry. I was all like, "yay we get to take on the mantle of Zodiarc's chosen for a bit!" could have made for some absolutely amazing story telling. But noooooo it was just what some npc called us in the new zones. Was so so so so so so so mad about that.I outright don't believe Yoshida's words. I feel that anger as well. ShB was such a missed opportunity for some interesting storytelling from different perspectives. Imagine, if you will, if Vauthry was an actually benevolent and good man who created a full blown paradise to wait for the end of the world, and we had to destroy all that goodness to save the world."Become the Warrior of Darkness" was the one that made me the most angry. RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
Anything he says should be taken with a bucket of salt. I'm not holding my breath for anything.
