Yea tbh it's getting annoying now. Most of these venues are 18+ and sell u some kind of erp. I think they should crack down on this because it doesn't make the game look good. Let those degenerates advertise there burlesque houses somewhere else besides limsa and "other" I love when I see a pf in other that's just "hi I need friends" because here is somebody using df to communicate and socialize with u. These cringe parties.... there's over 200 ppl there and unless it's to come onto you (had an experienceof sm1 literaly refusing to take no for an answer, and was borderline r***ng my character in these wierd pictures he kept linking to me) they won't even talk to u. The whole thing is a huge creepy mess. Obviously non 18+ venues don't nerd removed but this isn't about them let's be real

I hope you reported them for harassment. There's a few too many weirdos like that in this game

In my opinion, they would do well to advertise more, or make it easier for RP'ers to find them.

My proposition is a nice middle ground for everyone to be happy. There's a huge problem with shout spam from various venues and not everyone wants to see that. It's understandable and shout is important for players who also want to keep track of hunts who may not be on the Faloop discord.

But shouts are also a good way for players unaware of the RP scene to find it. Similarly for PF's Other tab (not to mention the amount of duplicate ads is just ridiculous sometimes).

This creates an effect where both groups get on each others' nerves.

Giving a PF a dedicated RP tab and a dedicated opt-in /rp chat, allows for players who want to keep track of RP, while also alleviating the nuisance it causes players who just want to keep their chat clean for other content. And if some nightclub venue owner or PR or ad is put into the wrong chat, they can be reported and warned to stay in their corner.

Once a player finds the RP scene in-game, they'll eventually find the discords through friends they make in the scene who share the same interests.

I feel this is a win-win for both sides.
Do you own the café (was it a café? A library? Bakery?) in the LB on Spriggan?
As for /rp, yes, it would be nice, especially if it wasn't limited to a certain range, like /s and /em, but I'm afraid the spam will just go there as well. Though that would also make /em pointless, I'm afraid.
While the problem with nightclubs isn't that bad on EU servers, on NA they are dominating, and their practices are less than savory, from what I've heard.

I don't own a venue. I work for a cafe in Goblet with live bard music on Ragnarok as a receptionist and on/off as an RP bartender for various clubs for friends I've made over the years.

I also attend as a guest whatever I see that strikes my fancy. Recently it's been Santa's Village type festive places, other times it's been underground RP fight clubs, a few times I attended some RP blessings of The Twelve. And I'll also go to a pub or club if it's one I like, or it's new and want to see what it's like.

I've heard it's much worse in NA yes. But I've had my fair share of unsavoury practices with many nightclubs in EU as well. If one of those happen, I don't return to them. Having said that, nightclubs overall are usually the entry point into RP overall because they're the most visible, and I doubt that's going to change anytime soon.

My issue for the most part, is that people try and group RP into what they consider good RP and bad RP in their mind. Are you RP'ing as an alchemist? Warrior of Light? Discussing Garlean and Eorzean politics? Good RP. Attending nightclubs? Bad RP.

But a good nightclub with good staff does just as much RP as lore RP. The bartenders, for example, will put effort into mixing your drinks, they'll try and create an immersive experience for the guests. They'll use emotes creatively to make it seem like they're working.

And I've seen the level of effort and time that dance choreographers will put in, to create interesting dance macros where their animations will flow naturally. Groups of dancers take time to practice and sync together. I still consider it RP.

It's all about the amount of effort people will put in to provide immersion. And if the guests are happy and want to tip with gil, I feel good effort should be rewarded.

And unfortunately there's going to always be low effort clubs that just want to fill a crowd and their discord servers and try and make lots of gil for minimal work. It's up to the players to decide what they're happy with.

AFAIK RP as the WoL is a taboo. Alchemist, yes, I have a character who is an alchemist. She used to be the salve maker of her tribe, and once she was out of the jungle, went to Ul'Dah, and started at the alchemist's guild. Though, I bend lore a bit and put more emphasis on the "chemist" part. She isn't Walter White, but she knows her stuff.

The problem isn't the staff in most cases, but the guests. People who have no idea what they're doing. They do everything that is considered bad practice, can't distinguish between IC and OOC, break character, godmode and straightout R**E a character, or they just walk on you at the slightest inconvenience with some flimsy excuse, and some other things.
And these people are then what is seen as the "RP community".

I completely agree with this. And it's up to the venue owners and security to do their role and have them banned.

It would be nice if there was a way to block people from entering the venue on a blacklist, or other tools as such, but I can also see how they could be misused. However, it's a private residence and they can ban for whatever reason they want to.

In most nightclubs, harassing someone who's not interested, taking graphic pictures of someone without consent, spamming emotes or filling the chat, are disallowed.

Security staff will step in for such situations, but there's a line too. They need to allow for players who RP as a villain, play around it (jumping behind the bar and trying to steal bottles), compared to someone harassing the other guests. In those cases, they're banned on the discord and are refused service.

But there's only so much players can do with the tools they have. At some point, players who try to force themselves on others, need to be reported and hope SE does what they need to do.

The nightclubs and venue spam are no better than the RMT spam. It makes the game feel cheap.

There's a few fixes. First is controlling spam on pf. Just build in something that limits how much is able to be posted for any venues...say hardcap 2 per DC.

Then dealing with shouters. Aside from Maybe changing tos in a way that can get them hit I don't know any way to stop that spam.

As for the venues. I personally think they haven't done anything because then they would need to acknowledge they exist. Sure venues are lifeblood but they literally blew up during covid. So they aren't special anymore. New ones open all the time too.

    So yeah. A few options
