I'm hoping that it won't be just the one post. Granted, it's still early days but it's a trend I've witnessed and commented on before:
Back when I made this thread:
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...epresentatives
All I can tell you is I was asking a genuine question.
I don't know who the 2-3 are that you speak of. If you think I'm one, I have several elements of this game I criticize - frequently - and I don't mention Yoshi P outside of when he says something specific (like that he doesn't want to add more damage buttons on healers) as relevant in discussions said statements relate to since he is kinda the last word when he DOES say things definitively. I don't engage in worship. When someone makes an argument about the game and I offer a rebuttal, that's not worshiping anyone; it's being rational.
I don't think it's happening. I read a lot of threads here, and I don't see Yoshi P worshipers. What I think is more likely is people SAYING that's what things are, but they aren't, actually. It's easy to talk about things in nebulous terms, but when someone asks for proof, you have to find examples, and you may realize "Okay...this probably isn't that to an objective observer".
Case in point:
See above: I haven't made any worship posts, gushing posts, I've never said Yoshi P is infallible, etc; yet here you have this alt of someone's saying I am. (At least, I think it's someone's alt... the various alt people need to start posting a list of all their alts in their sig. I feel like I need a Program to tell who's who.)
.
But, I WOULD like to see if people are actually doing this. Because one of three things is going to happen:
1) It isn't happening at all, so the claims it's happening are empty excuses for bad behavior based on a phantom that doesn't exist, and thus the bad behavior isn't excused/justified and the people doing it have to fess up.
2) People are posting things, but it's not worship/etc. But the people who want to harp on "toxic positivity" want to keep doing so. And they realize if they pointed to posts they define that way, objective people would say "That's not what that poster said/is doing at all". For this reason, people might evade providing evidence because even they suspect it doesn't hold up to actual scrutiny.
3) It actually IS happening, in which case, you will have captured a unicorn, and I actually do want to see it and what they say. Despite common belief, I don't support unfounded hyper-positivity. But I have to see it before I can offer rebuttal to it.
.
So I'll ask again:
Who's doing it, though?
Can you provide examples of this behavior?
...I suspect not, but I'm asking the question in good faith. If you cannot, then it's high time to stop relying on a boogieman that doesn't exist to justify behavior that shouldn't be tolerated in its absence. It's time for people to mellow out some and stop relying on caricatures to justify their bad behavior and, instead, stop behaving badly.
If you're talking about me - since you said it wasn't Val - I don't think I've been replying back and forth with that person at all. I also don't report posts outside of extremely egregious examples, of which there haven't been any to report. A certain someone a while back committed egregious harassment in an explosion against multiple posters, but I can't think of a single time I've even glanced at the button since then (and, in case you're curious, I'm not part of any Discords related to the forum, so I'm not involved in any drama or anyone's coordinated efforts or any of that cliquish high school drama llama soap opera stuff).Honesty can hurt some people, so of course they got banned, it's a temp ban, but still, people are very snowflake-y on this forum, I'm not surprised they got the hammer, weirdly enough bans seem to happen a lot when words are agaisnt a certain poster that I wont name (and of course he's in this thread) so I guess I'll just stop interacting with them entirely.
You can, of course, not interact with me (if I am the person you were talking about), but the person on the vacation didn't say anything to me. So you'll have to find another to blame for that one. As Val said, the mods don't ask anyone for our opinions on anything; you know this.
And as Val and Zephyr (I think it was) said to you: There's a difference between honesty and insult.
It's more likely someone said something that was either too far for the mods or someone ELSE thought it was bad and reported it. But wasn't me. /shrug

Renathras?
"People are snowflakes" is a nice way of deflecting the fact that the person got the banhammer for their behaviour, and nothing else. If they got reported, and that persons behaviour made disciplinary action necessary, then if ANYONE is responsible for getting banned..the blame lies solely AND ONLY with the person whose conduct was deemed unacceptable.
In short?
Actions have consequences.

I've never played WoW. I also have no problems with anyone who does play it and enjoys it. It's nice having choices.
Replace WoW with Activision and like instead of love![]()
It's really sad because the entire MMO genre is beaten by BG3 alone. That's how much of a joke MMOs are in 2023, but really everyone playing an MMO is on copium when we're all just here for the social aspects, not really the game.
damn this is getting bookmarkedI'm not even going to bother humoring you, because I've seen precisely how you operate in other threads. (It's also likely against the forum ToS anyway). It really brings us back to one of the statements in my previous post:
You should run along and go back to arguing the semantics of everyday colloquialisms, or perhaps return to arguing past people in the Healer DPS thread without actually bothering to read and understand any of the content of their posts.
No because I dont bound myself to just one game. I play both and more. Easily solves the whole "game doesnt retain you enough" issue people seem to have. When youre done with one game then hop on another and repeat back and forth
I love XIV because I finally found an mmo that doesn’t expect me to no life it to gain a single level. I’ve quit all the ones I had to because doing the exact same three actions with auto attack or ten actions for a paltry %000.02 exp gain per kill is like climbing a vertical mountain with zero foot holds. I never feel good doing that, just that I’m wasting time.
