I've wanted this since glamour became a thing. Don't see it happening. I'm 99% sure there is a technical reason they can't pull it off in FFXIV's current iteration.

And even if they could, unfortunately people think the concept of not being seen afk-dancing naked next to city aetherytes deeply offends them.

I would rather they didn't do this, but instead made it so when you Blacklist someone, they are (Player) then made to be completely Invisible to you.

So then, if someone was Bikini tanking and I didn't like to see it, I could just Blacklist, ala-Dead to me.

This is one of the most egotistical phrases I've seen on here. How about this since we're so keen on telling others what to do: just wear something else.

But if it really really really means that much to you, then, actually, the option to hide other peoples' glamour exists... through the use of 3rd party tools. Such options as that, we'll never see implemented in XIV, as XIV can barely implement countdown timers without nearly imploding in on itself, so you're going to have to stick with client-side tools for this.

Stop advising people to use 3rd party tools. They are against the ToS . It doesn't matter if they exist in a grey "don't ask don't tell" area. Personally I don't want to risk the thousands of hours and dollars I've invested in this game just because narcissistic people like you have to be the center of attention.

I don't think you realise how fugly some base gear can be, especially when mismatched.

Also, what happens when something like this ends up being BiS and everyone is running around in it?

A better suggestion that might get you more support could be job based auto glamour.
With each class and job having it's own default look, and having that replace peoples glamour.

Skimmed the last few pages and I wish my life was so uneventful that someone wearing a thong on their pixel avatar was enough to ruin my day to the extent I'll start throwing out words like "consent" about digital clothing. Holy hell.

While I would rather not have the game default us to what gear we're wearing bc some of that is mega ugly. I think having a toggle to default to the class gear, at the very least for instanced content, would be fine. I think getting up in arms about what people are wearing is silly as hell but if it's implementable why not.

That being said, the answer to the whole "mismatched gear" argument is to have everyone put in at-level tome gear.
