If they add a hide glam option then all lala's need to be default glam'd into a potato outfit.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

It seems people are intentionally misconstruing the intent of this idea. It's not "oh no these elements exist" it's "I'm having a serious/emotional moment and there's a guy standing next to me wearing pajamas and moogle slippers".

For you, perhaps. For other people, include several in this thread, it's entirely about elements they don't want in a fantasy game.

Gasp! If it was added the mere idea in itself would be a enough to overwhelm the senses of those that do not wish to have their character altered. I posed this question to a friend and they said the idea in itself is a problem because as a society we should be promoting acceptance and tolerance across the board. People should be free to express themselves how they want and not have a lingering thought wonder if that person is hiding my outfit. Apparently that can cause some anxiety for many.
Thing is if the feature was added people are still free to express themselves in public, they would not know if someone is using it unless they were told. So how does it impact public perception they have for their character? If they have the perception no one is using it then for the most part no one is using it.for all your immersion needs, use the trust system.
People like when the appearance they designed for their character is the public perception of that character in a largely social, mmo game.
xiv's never been low fantasy, it's never been high fantasy, it's always been science fantasy.
i mean, we've had flying mechs since the start. sunglasses ain't that far-fetched.
if the sunglass & t-shirt wearing people bother you, that's more of a you problem tbf
Reality is only decent argument against this is that it is a waste of development resources.

People need to understand and accept that not everyone is going to like them. There's always going to be someone who resents them for whatever reason no matter how petty.

With 6.3 I'll be able to be a rainbow of chocobo colours. I'll be sure to be *extra* noticeable
Please show support for chocobo boots to be added -> http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/323512-Suggestion-for-an-item-to-be-added-to-gold-saucer-Chocobo-Boots
Unhappy with how they implemented Mahjong? -> http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/381358-Mahjong-is-the-most-depressing-mini-game-you-ve-added-to-XIV

Is this even that kind of "fantasy game" at this point? With in game cities like old sharlayan having npcs wearing modern fashions and basically a starbucks, and techy things in the game world including a futuristic sci fi spaceship? I can understand not wanting to see someone in a pink bunny suit or something immersion breaking in that way but modern day fashion and technology is pretty much a thing that exists in the msq and the game world regardless of other players. It could also be argued that seeing someone unglamoured in mismatched gear would be even more immersion breaking than that.
