Even the new gear looks horribly cheap

Love the Relic Design. One of the best so far

Probably wasting more resources on that stupid Ultimate fight that won't even come out till 6.1.
Just what we need, content most people won't even do to get more tacky, glowing weapons.
If only wouldn't waster their time and resources on such things and focused on making the game look better and making the story more cinematic.
So sad. >w>

To get to the topic, yeah, they do look really plain.
The only weapons I do like are MNK's (which I haven't even touched this expansion), RDM's, and AST's.
Some of these weapons are even repeats of older relics (WHM and BLM).
I think they've run out of ideas from WAR, SMN, SCH, and BRD, in terms of weapon design.
They look like shit. Sad to say I'm seeing a pattern with tier 1 or tier 2 upgrades being as good as it gets before getting hit with an awful design.
The floating crystal raindrops just look awkward and removing them you see how bland the weapons actually look.
Not good for a final stage for a relic.

I actually... quite like them. The glow is really unique and cool imo. Gives me options for entirely new glamours. Only questionable thing for me, which is same criticism towards other relics is colour choice for glow on some jobs doesn't always make sense. If it's an artifact weapon, I always felt it should try to respect the job while balancing design theme for the weapons.
Bard was a flop for me for all stages though. Bulky weird thing with random colours.
Bahahaha! The designs are a joke!! Even Hydatos relics look 10 times better.
Yoshi P said making them will take a lot of resources. Casuals are now paying the price for your request. Enjoy your bootleg relics and hatless races now!!

Please google, this is pretty well known knowledge. I don't normally spoon feed, but I might as well take time to educate people.

The Cost of Developing a New Playable Race – In a Fan Festival keynote speech, I stated that this will likely be the last time we add new playable races to FFXIV. To put it simply, a tremendous amount of time and resources are required to develop one. I’m sure you all understand that a new race will require new faces, hairstyles, bodies, and other assets. In addition to this, they need to be capable of equipping all existing items—this alone requires a massive commitment of resources. Each race has a unique frame and body type, and so every piece of visible equipment needs to be carefully adjusted to display properly on Hrothgar and Viera models. A cursory search will show that FFXIV has around ten thousand equippable items already implemented, all of which must be manually modified by our designers. This is an immediate and unavoidable development cost incurred when adding a new race.
The addition of new playable races will impact more than the development cost of the items added in 5.1 and subsequent updates. Not only will we be transitioning from twelve variations (six races, two genders each) to fourteen, but we will also need to commit more resources to the development of new emotes. While FFXIV will continue to strive to maintain a regular 3.5 month major update cycle, we must also ensure that sufficient time is secured for the meticulous development of new content—or else the quality will invariably drop. This is a complex problem that can’t be solved simply by throwing more money or people at it, as it impacts both debugging and QA.
In summary, these are the circumstances which informed my previous statement that this is likely to be the last time we add new playable races; as at this point in time, it is difficult to see us maintaining our patch update schedule if we have to account for more than seven races and two genders (technically six races with two genders and two races with a single gender, but this is the functional equivalent).
Edit: So yes, casuals will suffer from square's decision to add male vieras and female hrothgar

Yes, how dare I ask for a source from someone making a claim. Thank you for some sort of actual source, old as it is, however. Please google, this is pretty well known knowledge. I don't normally spoon feed, but I might as well take time to educate people.

Also, I love how you say to google as if it guarantees a source. It doesn't. That's the whole point of asking for the source.
