I tend to agree with this. But is there anything similar to the new shorts?

Basically, I had no clue about any new patch items. Since it's all way beyond my level anyway. But I was doing my normal thing in Uldah, and walked passed by a user wearing shorts and sneakers. It caught my eye because I definitely wanted some form of shorts for my character, but more of a fantasy version. And I had never seen anything like shorts or sneakers before. So I was like whoah where you get them shorts and sneakers? And he told me it was brand new gear from the latest patch. OK I indeed already had something close to sneakers which is actually the level 1 mage shoes. And they actually go well the fantasy world. I definitely think those new sneakers he was wearing are too much like modern day real world, and shouldn't be in a fantasy setting. That said, the shorts he was wearing are the only shorts I've seen so far. I haven't seen any other shorts in the game that would be more akin to a fantasy setting. Because I do agree that I'd rather not use immersion breaking gear.

What does fantasy gear mean in Final Fantasy tho? Trust me.. don't judge the sneakers by what other games do... FF games do these things all the time. Look at FF7, FF8 for example. Why am I pointing this out, because I want to kill off this idea that things like the gym shoes are out of place when that's never been the case in the series. That includes FFXIV.

Yeah, pretty much. Final Fantasy has, at least for a long time, been mixture of high fantasy/sci fi with an emphasis on one or the other depending on the game. FF XIV is no different. That said, they tend to take a good many creative liberties and add things that might be considered questionable within the scope of the game at times. They've been doing that for years though so it doesn't really bother me.
