Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

There's a lot of people who would settle for a limited selection of hairstyles over not being able to play male viera, I'd wager.

I don't like most of the hairstyles in this game, so I'm not too bothered about whether or not there's limited options for male viera hairstyles. So long as there's at least one good style, I'll be content.

What if there are limited hairs for male viera, and the hairs are bad?!

Well you come back to the same hairstyle because you found one you were happy with, thanks to the broad selection you get with other races.
It's not quite the same when you only get half a dozen options. I'm personally not satisfied with the limited choices for Viera.

It's easy to want but when you get something like this and you're faced with the truth of the matter things go sour real fast. A huge part of telling people apart in this game is head shapes and colors. Viera, as it stands, are mostly limited to human skin colors plus grays. They only have 8 unique hairstyles, only 1 for "sporty short hair". They can't cover their heads in most cases. So yeah, it's very easy to feel the limits when many people just pick the generally agreed up ton better styles, try to make generally pretty people with the same human skin and you can't really change your head shape. Lots of twins and same face.

Hrothgar don't have that issue from what I've seen as they have a large selection of colors they can be, very stand outty heads and their numbers aren't as large. It's easy to tell them apart even if many want to use the pretty face. But they have their own major problems in that they have NO hair options. You gotta pay for that ish. And you got people like me who like face X but not feeling any hairs on it...

These are limits no one should wish for or welcome, hats off to those who see the limits and can deal with it (Cause they can't wear em Ba Dum Tss).

I finally got irritated enough that I swapped back to cat. Seriously frustrating limitations.

I'm all for them adding male Viera and female Hrothgar, but I also think they absolutely shouldn't add any more races unless they're prepared to actually finish them to a level that enables the same level of customizability as every other race in the game - and bring current Viera and Hrothgar to that level.

SE clearly bit off more than they could chew with just this "one" race (V/H combined), and the timeline for making adjustments so far (unless they're pretty darn major when they do come) leaves something to be desired imo.

I'm in the same boat, tbh. And to be fair, when ARR first came out, there were a lot less hairstyles than there are now. They had added more along the way, and they'll continue to add more in the future. I'm sure Viera & Hrothgar will get more hairstyles (or...faces... in Hrothgar's case...) eventually, just not today... or the next month, etc. So, yeah, I would definitely take male viera with limited hairstyles to start with, because I know they'll eventually get more.


Hairstyles are purely cosmetic, whereas gender/sex isn't, so I think adding male viera should be a priority to adding more hair.

Not only that but "being bad" is quite subjective too. With my Viera I only liked one single hairstyle (the short one), every other hairstyle simply did not look good with my character and thus I was stuck with one..as someone that does like to change it up this really made me turn back to Au Ra..there at least I have a huge amount of hairstyles that look good on my character (in my eyes).

So if males also have only like 8 styles and none of those fit your type of character then you are out of luck...and you cant even hide the hair under hats.

I do agree that I would want races over hairstyles because they at least are in the game and can be played but hair is a big thing for quite some people (we already have quite a few that changed back because of that and the missing hair, myself included) Hair is part of what makes a character your character. I have quite some of the longer hairstyles that look great on other people but as soon as I use them with my character I cant stand them because it just does not fit.

The problem with the limited races right now is, that we have no idea when and how many new hairstyles they even get. (And with faces being tied to hairstyles with Hrothgar I really doubt they get many) They really should solve that problem soon (which sadly is no problem to them..at least it feels like that) because if we get the missing races they have doubled the amount of work again..Instead of having one hairstyle that fits all races and both gender they have to make a couple of those for the normal races, then make a new face for male Hrothgar and a new face for female Hrothgar. And if they dont just simply put a male or female Hairstyle on the other viera they will also need two different ones here...

So much work..at a time where we already get less hairstyles for the normal races. Wonder if that will cut down the ones for the other races too in the future. Maybe we will truly just get one new one then which will be unisex.
