I'm counting on at least 500k PS3 buys and an additional 20k PC buys when 2.0 comes out. Its gonna be HUGEish(for an over 2 year old MMO rereleased after a huge cash grabbing flop and flame out) I cant wait!

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

I still say square should send a team of ninja's to Austin Texas to "Relocate" the rooster teeth creative and voice staff for a month or two.
Just stuff the dungeon full of samiches, booze, and computers. And everything will work out fine.

500k for ps3 is insanely optimistic lol good luck on that, DCUO hasnt even hit that and doesnt have the bad reputation and 2 year delay behind it.
Also I think XIV will be advertised as same but with the 4 key words on it.
They have to do something quite dramatic to gain attention but with their "timeline" it doesnt seem like they're going to go full out. Just seems like a typical trailer.

I think they are counting on us alot too. As we play it and talk about all the positive changes and how far the game has come we are going to help bring ppl in.
But they did say they are going to have new trailors and movies for E3 this year and Yoshi P has already been doing press for it so hopefully as time draws near ppl will be chomping on the bit for it as much as we were during beta. The nice thing is that when the ps3 beta testers come in the game will be played to death by us for 2 yrs already so there should be fewer quirks as well as more to do.

Finally someone with common sense.
Doesn't mean that I don't want XIV to be promoted though.
current player-base is absolutely not going to carry the game and I want XIV to have the financial support to make it good someday.
XIII-2 has been promoted for over 6 months now. Why can't they invest the same amount of money to promote this game that otherwise will never have the chance to make money for SE.
Definitely make the game good first though.
The only thing that matters in 5 years are the new players that tried and liked the game enough to stay for the subs.

That is what it all comes down to, doesnt matter about first initial expressions, look at how it started, XIV was insanely hyped, it had huge launch success within its first month and then people begin to realise all its flaws and boom you have almost half a million people drop out by end of first 3 months.
This cannot happen again lol its all good giving something to look forward too but SE need to show that there is gameplay and stuff to do beyond the first week/2.
Hopefully they will, its not like they've had to build everything from scratch, the battle system and gear n stuff we have now all gets moved across, the mobs n what not, hopefully they've used this to their advantage and worked a lot on things to do.
DCUO has a reputation? Unless you like their comics there's not much going on for them, console or PC wise.
FF is an incredibly famous console franchise and has a reputation for being one. FFXIV has a bad reputation but only from the PC audience. The game has JP's on their side, DCUO has Americans known to favor PC over Xbox over PS.

That feels about right if we're only counting Japan too (which is console based, remember.) Adding in the other nations it can hit 500k+ easily, especially since this is the age of casual gamers and console gaming has always been more casual which means an even larger install base possibility with the console.
500k isn't that much honestly. It only requires like 10% of the normal FF fanbase to give the game a try. The question is whether it will ttop at 500k or keep steadily growing.

I will put a huge banner on my site saying Jennestia kicked my ass if FFXIV hits 500k PS3 subs, count me to that because I just find it hugely, overly optimistic, there is nothing going for it right now lol. And those "Install Base" dont play mmos or intend to otherwise they'd be on PC lol. That feels about right if we're only counting Japan too (which is console based, remember.)
