I actually hate the SB WHM set, and while I agree there are a lot of aspects of the WHM HW set that don't work very well together it's still one of my favourites, so I really like that the SHB appears to have been influenced by the HW design while fixing a lot of the things that didn't work in aggregate in the HW set.

I'm disappointed with the AST set for SHB. While HW and SB sets were wildly different, I loved them both. SHB is like a more boring version of the SB set. The weapon in SHB though is great.

I'm also someone disappointed with the DRK set. I loved the SB set for DRK and the SHB set is... boring. I am not a huge fan of the GNB set either, but I did like the WAR and PLD SHB sets. Up until this point I haven't really liked any WAR AF sets, and for PLD while I did like SB one, the clipping with a tail is terrible.

Finally BLM I pretty much almost never like on my character. Though it is interesting that BLM AF gear is always very different - a tonne of diverse designs, and the SHB BLM, I don't like it either but it is yet another vastly different design.

AF1: Meh. Okay I guess, but nothing stand out. Kinda felt like something you'd find in GW2...
AF2: Urgh... Not particularly keen on it at all really.
AF3: Gross! Especially with those shoulder pads that are floating about (Even if they are supposed to be attached to something... They're hovering over cloth? Your bare flesh? Wut? Is this WoW now?)

    PLD
AF1: Neat. Simple, practical, has an air of nobility to it.
AF2: Nice, I think it comes together very nicely!
AF3: Okay. Not as nice as AF2, but okay.

    DRK
AF2: Pretty cool. Can't really argue with any part of it.
AF3: Decent. Though... Floaty pauldron again >.>

    Scholar
AF1: Personally not a fan. But it has some iconography.
AF2: Umm? I like steampunk. But I'm not so sure it quite fits this job?
    AF3: I don't like it at all...

    White Mage

AF1: Meh... Looks very generic :/
AF2: Really nice. I'm not too keen on the hood though.
AF3: Great! Except for the excessive collar that ruins the entire set >.<

    Astrologian
AF2: Amazing. I love it so much.
AF3: Great. Though I thought the hood was a bit odd.

    Monk
AF1: I love it. It's a great set! (Even if the base set does come in bright yellow)
AF2: Okay. I'm not so sure about the hat thing or the shoes, but it's not the worst.
AF3: Ummm? I'm not so sure about the pants/boots... The metal plate on the leg? Surely that would be detrimental to mobility? Also are those the most practical boots for martial arts?

    Dragoon
    AF1: Awesome. Really nice design.
AF2: Cool. Though maybe a bit overdesigned with the frills and the like.
AF3: Meh. Looks fairly generic honestly (Apart from the winged helmet)

    Ninja

AF1: Not a fan. Feels sorta underwhelming.
AF2: Again, feels sort of underwhelming...
    AF3: Pretty cool actually.

    Samurai
AF3: Seems decent. Not my thing though.

    Bard
AF1: Urgh... Do not like. Also what's up with those pants?
AF2: Actually pretty nice. Feels somewhat generic, but is well designed nontheless.
AF3: Okay. It's nice and all, but not really to my taste.

    Machinist
AF2: Okay a coat and some generic clothes...
AF3: Umm... Did they just dye AF2 green?

    Black Mage
AF1: Nice. Fairly basic, but with some hints of classic design.
    AF2: Wut? Are you serious?
AF3: Nice, very druidy, great fit for Conjurer... Wait, what do you mean this is for Black Mage? What are you on and where can I get some?

    Summoner

AF1: Not a fan. Feels like it's trying to be just Scholar, but with a horn...
AF2: Great, I love it (Only let down by using sandals because SE's terrible foot models )
AF3: Really nice, a great set.

    Red Mage

AF3: Okay. Seems a bit fancy for me, especially for someone dashing in and out of combat. I get more of a Musketeer vibe from it than Zorro.

I can't answer that because I didn't bother to even get any artifact weapons.

For glamour, I'm perfectly happy with my lightning lance.

For stats, apparently the highest ilvl you can get from Eureka is 405. I currently have an ilvl 390 yama lance, HQ. So, while it would certainly be an upgrade, it's not worth the grind for me. Seeing as to how the new expansion is going to drop soon, I'll just stick with what I have for now.

EDIT: We talking artifact weapons or artifact armor? Or both?

    Alright, here we go!

    AST
HW: Best of the three, no contest. I wish they would do more AF gear for AST like this rather then what they've been doing.
SB: It's OK, it's sorta like a summer version of the HW dress, but the head shawl just kills it for me.
ShB: It's basically the SB gear, just with less. Weakest of the three.

    SMN
ARR: No contest. The jacket is great, so much so it is the only ARR AF gear piece I went out of my way to get the dyeable version of. That and it has the best Summoner Dong. Shout out to Larry by the way, stealing his shtick for a minute.
HW: It's OK, the top is actually pretty nice, I don't like the wings. The bottom half is a little hit or miss with me. Also, Summoner Dong could be better, it's not bad, but could be better.
SB: It's...kinda just the HW set but with more flat color areas and no wings. So, kinda hit or miss. Summoner Dong could use some work though.
ShB: Ya ever listen to one of those remix covers of a song you really like, and you can see what they are trying to do with it but it just isn't for you? Yeah, this is what this gear set is. It's like a cover of the ARR set, just it doesn't hit the mark for me. Summoner Dong is a bit thin, but that's OK.

    WAR
ARR: Loved it so much that I used it for a long time as my tank glamour. (I only have WAR as a leveled tank.)
HW: I like everything except the murder mittens. If they gave us an option to take the murder mittens off, I'd love it just as much as the ARR set. I use the chest piece for my current WAR glam though.
SB: DAT! VISOR! I NEED IT! Everything else is pretty good too! Need to finish leveling WAR so I can blend parts of it into the WAR glamour.
ShB: From what I've seen, it look alright, would need a better look at it. But so far, I like what I see.

ARR: It's uh... it's neat. I dig it. Have no strong feelings towards it one way or another.

^ This. I started playing at the tail end of Heavensward so I didn't see it until I started poking around the hunt seal vendor but ugh. Worst.
SB: Never really wore the full set but it's my favorite of them all aesthetically speaking. Best.
ShB: A step above the Goetia set, but not as good as SB's. I feel it's a bit too close to the Shire set, I wish got something more ragged, more along the lines of Y'shtola's new outfit.

    Red Mage:
    SB: Meh?
ShB: Not terribly different from the SB set but lawd almighty those boots are hot, so best.

    (Honorable mentions)
SB set for Monk is my favorite, particularly the jacket.
Best set for Summoner is SB's, ShB's feels like a step back... almost a carbon copy of ARR's set.

Armour primarily I think. I only mentioned the SHB AST weapon because unlike the AF armour design for SHB the weapon is really nice.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have several reasons.

    1. It's jarring. Especially on pale characters. You have this dark set, and suddenly there is giant gaping skin hole in the middle.

    2. Scales on male version are just cool looking and go well with the rest of the piece, and replacing that with just a hole makes this an inferior version of the armour.

    3. I find little point to it. I can begrugingly accept existence of most skimpy armour, because it serves at least some purpose. The belly window here is out of nowhere on otherwise full metal set complete with spikes and everything.

    Indeed. It shouldn't even exist.

I'll post a pic. Cause I mixed the gloves with my best choice.

I like the gloves from the ARR AF monk gear but that's it really. lso I kindof mixed other pieces in there cause I wanted a more casual look.. and AF HW monk gear's tank top and baggy jeans work best with kitty hat and CARBYS. .. what? I know I'm odd.

    AST:
Best: SB. Not so much that I think it's the "best," just the one I tolerate the most. The ShB set is just too minimalist and could pass for a generic crafted set.

Worst: HW. This is a unique situation. I say this as a male character. If I was playing a female character this would've been the best because it looks great on females, but is super-unflattering on male models. It's a stylized witch. Because it looks like a dress on females causes it look natural on them. The way the robe fits on males is just awkward.

    WHM:
Best: ARR. Iconic. This so far is the only set that seems to retain the trademark appearance of the franchise's White Mage. It's not as fancy as the others, but the others tend to go over-the-top and look unpleasant for different reasons.

Worst: HW. UGH. Awkward "hood." Poorly-fitted robe. It's a cross between a nun and a white Christmas tree. Pass.

    SMN:
Best: ARR. It's nice-looking, has cool details, and looks flattering on just about everyone. ShB's a not-so-close second; it's nice, but something about it looks off.

Worst: SB. It's like the designer had absolutely no idea where they were going with it. I can't tell if it's meant to be mystical, tribal, ethereal? The boots look oversized... Shorts that give you a tribal tattoo... A sleeveless robe that looks like the tailor didn't correctly estimate how much fabric they'd need so they decided to wrap it into an asymmetrical mess... Yes, a mess, that's SMN's SB AF.

    BRD:
Best: HW. Something about this set just looks better than the others. I guess it's because the look speaks more like: "traveler, wanderer" and is a bit more subdued than the others but still manages to be detailed.

Worst: SB. I hesitate to say "worst," because I think all the different BRD AFs have a unique type of theme that comes from each ensemble, but SB's hat has to go.
