Nothing stopping Red Mage from filling the poster-boy slot... Just gotta focus on the parts of the kit that's most showy.

Red mage is the most likely casting candidate but probably more focusing on the melee part of it as you said.

Maybe 10 more lvls for blue mage and remake of skills, so they didnt have to grind all those silly dungeons for a skill... (Funny, they make a new job and call it solo job and then have it grind dungeons that cant be done solo...)

There are speculations RDM will be the next Expansion job. They fit the theme of Balance quite well.

Maybe the next expansion may introduce a Melee Sword Mage Job that focus on Sword Magic enchantments to perform their magic attacks in melee range so 6.0 can have the main iconic job be that new job.

Its just advertising. So imo it doesn't even matter who is on the box art. Gonna play a WAR/DRK/DRG/GNB either way, and thats what I'll see in my cut scenes. Also, kill mages all the time in pvp. They do not come across as op as destroying 3 city states solo. lol. You wont get a cast out at all if you get cc'd and fell cleaved in the face 5 times without healing support. XD Im all for fairness though. So I wouldnt dislike a mage being on the cover.

Actually, what about the blm on the cover of the ARR case? Was BLM the job of 2.0 or was WAR? I thought it was WAR until I remembered this. My wife has it as a poster on our wall in the bedroom.
