Best way to raise skill at 50?

Got my Weaver up to level 50 and done the class quest for the tool. Picked up a full set of Artisan’s Gear from the GC. What’s the next best way to up Crafting skill further to make some of these items that require X amount of skill? Are the class specific items worth it over the Artisan stuff?

The Artisan gear from the GC is plenty good enough.
There are level 50 tools you can get in Mor Dhona that would be an improvement over the quest rewards, as well as crafted tools. But they are not worth the trouble unless you plan on being stuck at level 50 for a long time.

Otherwise the best option is to level up so you can get and use higher level tools and gear.

The best way? Level up some more crafting classes for cross class skills. The right mix of CC skills make all sorts of things possible. Or if you need a more basic level of understanding on how the crafting system as a whole functions, Caimie's guide is amazing. Very good read.

With level 50 you can level up easily doing tribe quests, like moogle in HW, until you get better skills and equipment. For example you can buy the expert-set there at level 58.

Definitely the Moogle quests. Great XP, the gear lasts until the red scrips turn-in at Idyllshire (and the six weekly orphanage turn ins).
ALSO- there are some levequests in Ishgard that give insane insane XP - the "batch" leves (cost 10 allowances) but I literally (and I mean LITERALLY in the correct sense of the word) leveled from 58 to 60 (yes, skipped an entire level) with ONE LEVEQUEST. May have been from 58 to 61, I don't remember.

Haven’t gotten to Ishgard yet unfortunately. Still plodding thru the story quests with a ways to go on those.

Yeah, I was there. My crafting classes always seem to progress before my MSQ, so I've had to put crafting on hold a few times now to allow the MSQ to catch up and unlock the areas needed.
I just unlocked Namazu last night, with my weaver already 70, but I have two more crafters in the low 60's so they're good.

Now I need to unlock the Stormblood collectibles NPC's in the Reach but I understand you need to complete the original SB MSQ first

Don't use the large-scale levequests. They actually give really bad return on investment. Doing 10 individual levequests in Ishgard will give you something like 3-4 levels, compared to the 1-2 levels you'll get with a large-scale one.

It annoyed me so that I need to beat that stupid trial before I could use the collectibles. >> Luckily... luck won out and I've had all my crafter classes were capped before I did win that part. All way back before the was a 4.1 Oo (Should be easy peasy now with 350+ gear)

And the Artisan gear is good for the level 50 placement. I think I was running with the crafted set that was weaker than Artisans before Heavensward happened. Come to think of it... SB seemed quicker to level my crafters... Still I need to finish fishing...

GC turnins. Do them every day, most of the items can be bought from NPC vendors or the MB if you are lazy. Unfortunately once you get past L 51 they are vendors in Ishgard.

Also the Ixal quests and daily turnins still give decent EXPs post 50.
