That would imply that they have a echo blessed being in their custody, which we don't know.
Ample means might refers to the huge armies of Garlemand, we might be strong but an overwhelming force will kill us regardless

"How their Echo works"? By that do you mean their (believed) reincarnation?Remember how we understood that the Crooked coin was important? It's a sidequest that has no synopys either and it is quite important because the main sidequest of the dotharl talks about how their echo works in their belief and you would think that they simply pull out reasons out of their backs when the prophecy isn't fulfilled, yet that sidequest shows you that is not all true and some are crushed by this belief.
Two things here: firstly we can't be sure that they are genuinely being reincarnated - we just know it's what they believe. It might be true, it might be a 'decorative' concept.
Secondly... if they really are being reincarnated, I don't believe it's necessarily linked to the Echo.
I've been meaning to write some stuff up about this, but the easiest source for an in-game summary of Eorzeans' beliefs on souls is to talk to the guards at the aetheryte plazas in the starting cities.
They believe all souls are eternal. It's not something unique to the Echo-blessed.
And we have some solid examples of non-Echo people's souls continuing to exist after death - most notably Haurchefant's brief reappearance to help us save Estinien.
So while it seems to have been a theory for a while that "souls with the Echo can remain intact and reincarnate", I don't believe that's exactly the case. It seems possible that all souls have this ability, Echo or otherwise. We need more information.

Wrong wording on my behalf, I meant their belief in the souls reincarnation.
While the main sidequest dealt with the issue of ppl not believing to living up to the hype in a more jovial way, there was that other side quest that actually show us that some aren't as lucky and feel pressured by their blief.
Also while the main sidequest is very detailed, that sidequest has no synopsys and you need to be very careful on the quest text,
So I was pointing out that some bits of lore are very hard to come by in SB because are well hidden and the fact that they removed quest synopsys for some reason is frankly a sin.

The first point is duly noted, however Solus still tells Varis that he's more than capable of personally dealing with the situation. Resonance or no, that implies he's either a warrior without peer (beyond even Zenos) or has some kind of enhancements. What those enhancements are, who knows.
The second point - Solus specifically says (might get this wrong - not jumping on just for a quote):
"Whether by your own hands or by your armies, you have ample means at your disposal (to deal with the Eorzeans and Warrior of Light)."
I accounted for the Imperial military, as did Solus.

Yep, I can fully attest that this is a well known fact.

Yes, but I don't think it was impliying anything else but essentially telling Varis to do the thing regardless of his feeling.
Either you do it or you make someone else do it for you but you have to do it.

You know I would love for that to be a part of the story. Imagine a quest where you are sent against a whole army. First just regular mooks alone or groupes of two. Ones that you can easily one-shot. But it slowly increases to the point where you are overwhelmed. And the game will not stop untill you die Zack Fair style. Add in a reward that scales depending on how many enemies you kill or how long you survived. After you die you need to somehow find your way back from the lifestream. Once you do, you see that everything has gone to hell in your absence. Primals are running amock, Garleans ccupy every city state and all the Scions have been captured. Good luck.![]()

Already happened in the Ifrit quest. You get overwhelmed and captured. Should happen more actyually
It'd be boring if they overused the trope. However, now that they're playing with letting us play as different characters, this is definitely an arc that might be possible--WoL being kidnapped, that is.
