As you can guess i was healing sigma scape 3 of course the tanks were not putting on def stance and took unnecessary dmg and the other players were not doing mech properly and again taking unnecessary dmg. After three wipes i had enough and and abandoned it then i get penalized for leaving. I was in there more than enough time and tried explaining mechanics. I should not get punished for abandoning a party after three or so wipes. Of course if people would bother to watch a video that would of helped. It's been long time since this came out the least new people can do is watch a video.

You gave up and abandoned the duty. There is a vote dismiss option for this very reason.

You can’t make people watch videos just like you can’t make them listen to mechanical explanations. I can sympathize with losing patience, but at the end of the day, you still abandoned a duty with a full party - it doesn’t matter how many times you wiped or how much time you spent in there. Spend your penalty crafting or gathering.

You didn't get penalized for 3 wipes, you got penalized for leaving a full DF group.
You committed to seeing it through and you left.

Tanks not using their defensive stance is normal, it wasn't unnecessary damage (and in the case of a warrior it's not extra damage at all). If anything using the stance is unnecessarily reducing damage output so the fight takes lnger and you have more to heal.
Mechanics however I'll just have to take your word on, I mean people in general aren't exactly great at this game, so that's to be expected.
The lockout is 30 minutes, it's not like you're done for the day.

There is no such thing as being there "more then enough time". You are either there until the duty is completed, or you leave early. If you leave early you can get the abandon penalty. If you feel the group cant succeed at the fight in question you can always initiate a vote abandon - if enough of the others agree everyone leaves and no penalties are handed out. You also dont get a penalty for leaving a less then full group, so if someone else leaves you arent obligated to stay and hope a replacement joins. Failing that, just leave and eat the penalty. Its not like finding 30 mins of other things to do is that hard. You can even go afk and do some quick RL stuff then come back when the penalty is over.

As for watching a video, you wrong. If we're talking about Sigma Savage, then sure - a video at a minimum is standard. But Sigma Story? Get over yourself. There is no story mode fight in the game hard enough that watching a video is required. And i say this as someone who regularly joins PF groups to help people do catch up content.

I stopped running the regular and high end duty dungeons except when I absolutely have to long ago. There were too often 1 or 2 jerks that ruined the experience so I'd leave, take the penalty and go gather or tend to other game needs for 30 min. I usually play a dps so when the queue times became unbearable, I decided to get the gear I need in game via other paths. End result: takes a little longer to tome gear using H on H, Eureka, hunt books, etc. but very little stress and no queues.

Yes, you should get punished for abandoning a duty. If you aren't prepared or willing to endure what roulette or pugs can throw at you, then don't run it, or run it with a fixed group. If this is a roulette, then personally I think SE should be harsher on the sanctions. If you leave the duty then you should be locked out of said roulette for the day. Just my personal input. 3 wipes, that's nothing. Again, not prepared, or willing to put up with what pugs can or will do, don't run it.

I'm fine with a 30 minute penalty for abandoning parties that have no hope for clearing, plenty of other things to do while waiting for it to wear off, but a whole 24 hour penalty is absurd. You'll just have people DC so they get kicked without a penalty.

Again, 30 minutes is not long enough. If you leave outright and accept the penalty then all I can say is at least you won't have held an entire party hostage, and granted the only time you really should bump into the hopeless parties is when you're doing mentor roulette and getting the extreme primals, anything outside of this I struggle to find it anything more than an exaggeration. Well that much has already been going on, again, people pretty much outright much holding parties hostage and these are the people I fail to comprehend in any manner. This I found pretty common with Shinryu (Normal)

You'd be surprised I think. I had to abandon a O7N run I got through roulette because a SCH made sure to die to every magitek ray and hold the team down, yet the party refused to kick him. I'm not spending an hour carrying someone who can't even put in the least amount of effort required to clear easy content.
