wait hold up, I hate to nitpick (j/k I don't), but they explicitly mentioned items put in the dresser are permanently lost in the patch notes: "* Please be warned that gear, once transformed into a glamour, can no longer be used as an item. This is an irreversible process. Transformed gear no longer exists as an item." this is how I first learned about this and kept in mind when deciding how I want to use this system. really, the only surprise for me was the actually applying glamour part.

This is debateably been achieved. If it can be linked to gearsets as they've announced they're trying for, it will have been fulfilled.

except that it does achieve several functional items people have requested: inventory space, different glamours (again.. arguably) for different jobs on the same equipment, and the ability to centralize your glamour pool .

People asked for something to do with their minions "Like battling them". I'll admit the users probably envisioned something more like pokemon.

"no longer be used" as in foreverafter, I agree that's not explicit, but it's there.

The idea we could get it back was inspired by a misinformed reddit translation.
also a poor choice of words in the later translated live letter:
"These new dressers will be placed inside inn rooms. Players will select items from their inventory and Armoury chest, and use glamour prisms to convert and store them into the glamour dresser. These items will become unavailable as a normal item to equip, but can be used for glamour. "
it's saying you can't use it anymore, but not clarifying forever and using the world "store" in the english translation probably confused the matter worse. Maybe they should have said "inscribe" or "log".

Like announcing future updates to the system? :

"we’re thinking of a system where you can assign glamour ensemble number to a gear set. "
"In the future, we’re also planning to be able to apply the glamour ensembles to members of your adventurer squadron."

I've actually read quite a bit on why devs AREN'T more candid.. and it's mostly because we as gamers are a horribly toxic, uninformed, and critical bunch and the stress and negativity far outweighs any benefit from player feedback.

Sure some of the posters here offer useful criticism and honestly REALLY good ideas, but for every one of those there's at least 20 "OMG THIS IS THE WORST IDEA EVER" followed by no useful feedback.
    Someone's gotta read it all.

I like it too. The only bad thing about dresser is 10 plates, 200 items and not all lvl1 items available to use in plates. Only complains I can see are about why they haven't made even more changes like putting 2-3 glamours on the same item for different classes. But I don't see a reason to complain about new stuff because it hasn't added even more new things you wanted.

Dresser is especially good while you're still lvling or gearing up (which you do most of the time in some way). Instead of dressing new gear piece and remembering which prism you need and which item you used to glamour this part you simply use the plate.

i don't hate it. I want to love it and i do see its potential

It is clearly in an alpha stage atm though
honestly all i need to start using it is the unique quest reward and mogstation gear added to armoire or calamity salvager

more plates would be very useful as well but not a necessity to start using it

Is it presently in the game? No? Then it cannot be "debatably achieved." They may be aspiring to make it function that way, but it doesn't currently hence the negative response.

I'll grant you inventory, albeit in a runabout and debatable manner. Arguably, however, is not a good answer when the system's severe limitations means it only benefits those with a select few outfits. If you play multiple jobs, you simply won't have enough space. That doesn't even cover the fact by destroying items, it makes mixing and matching cash shop or difficult to obtain items far less desirable.

What would this accomplish? Unless they outright change the system, it will still override your previous glamouring and maintain the ten plate limit. This sounds more akin to the macros people have already set up.

As for squadrons. Call me a cynic, but I highly doubt that's priority number one for people when it comes to how this system was implemented. Granted, I'll admit, some may fancy that addition. On the other hand, they invite another round of criticism if they include that before expanding plates.

While I won't deny gamers can be incredibly toxic, I have seen plenty of developers response equally so when people become critical of their ideas; BioWare being among the more notorious. I, too, have read articles on the subject. And far too many sound like cop outs. Regardless, when you consider how little information this game provides its players. It appears more a policy thing, which is fairly common with Japanese developers. That isn't to say I think poorly of them. I simply dislike the practice.

In any case. Is the Dresser worthless? Not at all. I've made it work, and the potential is certainly there. It just failed to meet expectations. Frankly, I feel the criticism is warranted. We'll just have to see how they respond. Suppose I just lack faith given how long it took before they even addressed inventory to begin with.

What you have now, is them releasing these brand new systems/features into the games that feel like a incomplete mess, Bard's perform was a perfect example of this.

Even though I personally believe that WoW's current transmog system is what all MMO's should be using as a design template for a cosmetic system, I'm not going to assume that other MMO's are going to be able to replicate it in it's current state considering how long it took WoW to get it right. They really need to setup beta/PTR's for these kind of new systems/features so that they aren't released in a complete mess, This is also coming from someone that spends more time collecting glamour than anything else. Just some of my thoughts.

I haven't tested the armoir system yet, but I have a little question.
If I use my AF3 as mirage, can I buy it again at a Salvager ? I feel like we'll be able to upgrade them in the future...

Yes, all AF3 are available at the Salvager after completing the last job quest.

Re: destroying the Glamour item -- while the Patch Notes explicitly stated as such, no where in the Live Letter featuring the Dresser was this ever mentioned. It cannot be entirely inferred from "Once converted, your item can no longer be used as equipment" foot note, because that says nothing about "Once converted, you cannot remove the item from the Dresser without losing it" or "This conversion process is irreversible". Being more clear would have probably saved the developers a little bit of backlash in this instance.

The only complaints I have (aside from the destroying your item complaint) is the Plates not saving to a gear set. Yeah, I can macro the changes, but it seems like a needlessly clunky/cumbersome aspect of the feature. I hope that this will be changed in a later update, as well as adding more slots and Plates.

I also hope we can one day get a craftable version of the Dresser to place in FC houses, personal houses, or apartments. Just so I don't have to bounce back and forth to an Inn room so much when editing my Plates. I don't think this would cause too much server strain, as all housing are separate instances from the overworld, and I believe the Inn room functions in a similar manner. But, I could be wrong. /shrug

I really want to use the dresser, but the whole destroy item part is what keeps me from using it. If we could put in or out items from the dresser at free will, then I'll give it a go, but until then I have to avoid it. I'm bursting at the seems with glamour stuff, but I can't risk losing items permanently.
