To be fair, I think Billy meant if they couldn't implement the glamour dresser properly, their time would be better invested in other areas until things were ironed out. Basically, don't release content that looks more like a beta test than anything else. That's pretty selfish.
I'm not calling you personally selfish, but if people are mad because "you didn't work on the part I enjoy in this game" and think that people who do glamour stuff AREN'T a large piece of the player base? That's more on them than SE. People say "Glamour is endgame" as a joke, but for a lot of us it kinda is. A big part of it anyway. I rerun dungeons solo for it. I farm tokens and rep for it. Hell, I'll level crafting classes and gathering classes for it.
all of this to make my character look how I want in the situations I put them in. Literally days of game time for that.
You're not alone OP. I enjoy it and see the potential. Doing my best to see where it could improve and how.

Naw you're not the only one. I like it too. Yes there are some flaws that need to be worked on, but most have a workaround like you said. I'm sure SE will eventually fix whats wrong with the dresser. We just need to give it some time. It's pretty much what I hoped would be implemented as an alternative to the old system. Though it's still not perfect. The plates are a great idea, but there really needs to be an option to glamour an individual piece. But for now there are workarounds. Eventually I'd like to see a plate that clears all glamours from your current gear. But for now we still have dispellers. Great start so far and I can't wait to see this system evolve.

I am testing it out. It's not so bad but I do find it incredibly irritating that I cannot use the plate switching stuff OUT in the world. I have to be in a city and that is just plain annoying. Also I am being extra careful of what I put in there because I really don't want to lose important things. I was told DO NOT place mog station store items in there and I don't plan to.
Seems silly that you physically lose the item when you put it in the chest and you can’t glamour with items purchased from the mog Station.![]()

If not now, then when?
Test it for 2 years? Test it for 5 months? Waste all that time behind the scenes and then release it to the decidedly hostile to change userbase and FORCE them to use the new one because we've now dumped tens of thousands of development money into it and our director will murder us if this isn't a permanent part of the game?
Or release it along with the old system in place for people to still use and get valuable use, feedback, and data throughput information? Add a system to remove some clutter from a LOT of peoples inventory as well. Like it or not we as the players are a valuable resource for them to use as "testers" for a lot of things. Lord of verminion, if it had been actually popular, might have gotten so much bigger. But people HATED it and so it stopped. What if it they had just released a full content patch of JUST LoV? It's a bad idea to just drop a new system onto people and force them to use it.
I haven't encountered a mogstation item I cannot glamour through the armoire or dresser yet.

1. I know I can edit a post to get around the 1k character limit. I posted my reply, saw the reply that was made while I was typing, and then replied to that.
2. you make it sound as if we only got the dresser. we got dungeons, a new raid, msq content, and the saddlebags as well. saddlebags alone would have been great, not to mention the simplification of glamour prisms. maybe this doesn't "live up to its full potential" but 1) what ever actually does? 2) this only got announced a month ago. if they announced it a long time ago and kept teasing features that they didn't deliver on that'd be one thing, but instead they announced something that was coming out soon and we all came up with features in our own heads and are upset because they didn't have any of the ones we thought of. s2g, someone on another thread called the glamour dresser "pre-alpha". as someone who's a QA tester irl I had to laugh.

I quite like it!
It cleaned out so much retainer space and saving full outfits I can snap on and off is wonderful. It's a huge improvement.
That doesn't mean it's perfect, and SE can still add a few options to make it better (like locking plates to classes), but it's such a huge step forward.

Honestly that would be alleviated by frequent updates from the individual devs leading such projects. Or what other games do: test worlds. "Hey guys here's what we're working on for the glamour system! *images or videos of new system being developed* We want your feedback through the process so we'll be adding this to the test realm for players to try out while we refine it and shoot for releasing it in an upcoming patch! We want to make it as easy to use and helpful as possible so we won't be rushing it out until it's ready. Please look forward to it!"If not now, then when?

Test realm? we don't have one. We likely don't have one because of "limited resources™". Yes that kind of communication would help, but you're imagining an entire wing of this that doesn't exist. Instead they have Us. I'm going off what we have, not what we ideally should have.Honestly that would be alleviated by frequent updates from the individual devs leading such projects. WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?

That is a slippery slope fallacy. They were well aware what players wanted given its been a frequent request going back years; the ability to glamour jobs uniquely. Releasing a system that essentially functions the same, albeit without prisms, and restricting to ten slots insinuates they didn't listen to our feedback at all lest we wouldn't have this issue to between with. Lord of Verminion doesn't exactly compare since no one really asked for it nor content remotely equivalent. Regardless, it's one thing to release content with the explicit intent to have it tested live. The Glamour Dresser was never touted as a beta test but a wholly developed feature—one they never once mentioned would delete items or have such limitations prior. In fact, they were questioned immediately upon revealing said restrictions. If not now, then when?

I wager player reception would be decidedly less hostile if they were candid and acknowledged this were still a work-in-progress. Granted, it doesn't help older games have managed better glamour systems than FFXIV.
